Description
The Sr Content Editor will help lead the enterprise and franchise coverage for the newsroom. Collaborate with storytellers to gather content, organize resources and digitally distribute it. This position will work closely with the news staff to develop unique stories that are impactful and relevant. This includes coaching and training staff on skills needed to provide unique coverage on all platforms. This role is for a seasoned journalist who is a self-starter and can build content plans and strategies.
Key activities
• Responsible for story scouting, field crew management, story planning, news writing and editing for digital platforms, social media oversight as well as monitors audience analytics at the station to maximize opportunities.
• Proactively coach and mentor staff on how to write better, coordinate newsroom resources and plan coverage.
• Manage big event coverage and long term planning efforts.
• Responsible for the work process procedures, training, designing and editing the way work gets completed.
• Works closely with Assistant News Director to set daily editorial goals.
• Perform other duties as needed and directed by the Assistant News Director
Education & Experience/Certifications
• BS/BA in Journalism or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in content operations or news management.
• Must have experience with computerized news systems such as content management systems, basic HTML, image editing, web and TV-style writing and social networking.

• Advanced knowledge of organization's technologies and practices.
• Knowledge of digital media as well as television content distribution, and actively work to gather elements advantageous to both platforms.
• News judgment to identify stories that drive audience growth and capitalize on core station mission and brand.
• Training/coaching experience preferred.
