The Direct Response Channel Manager is responsible for the project management and execution of the direct response marketing strategy for the more than 100 USA TODAY NETWORK properties, with a focus on subscriber acquisition and retention.They will manage the creative development and campaign fulfillment, including ordering, delivery, mailing and deployment, of direct response campaigns to reach channel-specific sales and retention objectives that drive subscription volume and revenue across the USA TODAY NETWORK. The work of the Direct Response Channel Manager contributes to each local sites’ success in achieving subscription volume goals and revenue.
They will work in partnership with various internal teams as well as contracted creative/campaign deployment partners. They will manage the direct response Channel Marketing Specialists that execute the acquisition and retention offline programs, including direct mail, email, free standing inserts and sticky notes.
With the USA TODAY NETWORK consisting of more than 100 local markets, plus USA TODAY, the pace is fast and each campaign more than 100+ versions. The Manager must be able to successfully project manage in that environment with flawless execution.
Responsibilities include:
• Oversee and lead the direct marketing channel specialists, including planning, campaign trafficking and maintaining work systems and processes, procedures and policies that enable and encourage the team’s optimal performance and success. Work with the team to further each members’ professional development while building an internal succession plan.
• Lead the day-to-day collaborative efforts with expert project management skills in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, developing and implementing the subscriber acquisition and retention direct response campaigns, including but not limited to direct mail, email, free standing inserts and sticky note channels, on time and on budget.
• Integrate successful multi-variate test strategies into the standard control campaigns seamlessly and in a timely manner in partnership with the DRCM, Strategy & Communications.
• Work closely with the individual Network sites, Customer Insights and the creative/campaign deployment partner, as well as with the direct response team, to achieve sales objectives by channel, by site.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders across the network.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure all elements of the campaigns are accurate and as intended to optimize campaign response and prospect experience. Evaluate end-to-end prospect experience across multiple channels and touch points.
• Position requires candidate to have proven project management skills, strong analytic abilities and problem solving capabilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as self-motivation and creativity are a must.
