IFC Films Marketing Director
OVERVIEW OF ROLE
IFC Films is looking for a Marketing Director to oversee the day-to-day consumer marketing campaigns for a portion of the IFC Film's slates and labels.
This position will propose and execute comprehensive marketing plans for roughly 15 feature film releases per year, from the development of materials through to advertising and filmmaker management through all release windows. A blend of creative and analytical sensibilities a must, and the ideal candidate should understand the specialty film consumer intimately, ideally sharing their passion for independent storytelling and the community that surrounds it.
This role reports to the VP of Marketing and maintains close and highly responsive relationships with the other team Managers, Directors, Publicist, VP of Publicity as well as vendors and film partners.
OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF THIS POSITION
Marketing Plans
• Drafting campaign overview documents proposing a strategy for positioning the film, a specific target audience and tactics/timeline for converting them to sales.
• Overseeing the day-to-day execution of this plan once approved, including analysis and post-mortem measuring success against stated goals/recommendations for improvement in future plans.
• Overseeing support staff in creation of essential information (metadata, synopses, stills, etc.) in support of this plan.
Materials
• Selection and initial brief of outside vendors for key campaign creative (trailer/poster)
• Navigating review process (internally and externally) to deliver quality materials within the timelines dictated.
• Manage effective release/exposure of these materials and consistency of creative across the entire campaign.
Media Plans
• Solicit and revise paid media strategies with outside agencies, keeping a keen understanding of ROI in the context of our overall budgets and projections.
• Adapt key campaign materials to ad creative specifications.
• Be accountable for managing and optimizing media plans in real time as results and metrics become available.
Other
• Represent allotted portion of the IFC Films slate internally and externally with key Sales partners and supporting teams.
• Oversee grassroots and social media agencies/campaigns for allotted portion of the IFC Films slate.
• Participate collaboratively and proactively with the broader IFC Films team (Marketing Dept and beyond) to engender distinct and creative campaigns for our films.
QUALIFICATIONS
• College degree
• 3-5 years experience working in entertainment marketing a must, management experience and/or a specialization in independent/art-house films from a distributor’s POV preferred.
• Excellent knowledge with proven experience of Microsoft applications: Power Point, Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with digital and social platforms integral to todays marketing campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
• Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of management.
• Ability to work well with others and collaborate across the organization to achieve goals.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to maintain highest degree of confidentiality and diplomacy.
• Must be flexible to work overtime on short notification.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, self-start, contribute under pressure and meet tight deadlines
