Job Description
WUSA9, the CBS affiliate in Washington, DC, is seeking a full time Production Assistant/Associate Producer. This individual will join a team dedicated to a variety of WUSA9 production initiatives including a daily live lifestyle/variety program – Great Day Washington. Duties will include assisting with live production, enterprising story ideas, booking guests, field producing, writing, editing, web production and social media posting.
Responsibilities of the position include:
• Assist with various production elements during live broadcast including operating a teleprompter, floor directing, and script organization, arranging set pieces, and greeting guests.
• Assist with booking guests and generating show content for Great Day Washington
• Assist with social media production including taking video and photos for the web as well as working alongside Great Day Washington producers on social media strategies and execution of online content
• Write and edit video for both on air and web products
• Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
The Ideal Candidate should:
• Be an exceptional writer and storyteller
• Be knowledgeable of live television production, graphics, and editing processes
• Be a team player
• Be knowledgeable of social media platforms and multi-screen audience engagement
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s in Mass Communications or related field preferred;
• Nonlinear editing experience a plus;
• Multi-media computer experience;
• Strong oral/written communication skills;
• Excellent organizational skills; and
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment to meet daily deadlines.
