Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting, the Senior Accountant, Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for assisting in monthly worldwide consolidation and financial reporting for A+E Networks Consolidated. This role will be focused on the monthly financial close and consolidation process, the quarterly forecast, the annual budget and MD&A processes and ensuring financial results are presented accurately in accordance with GAAP including preparing timely consolidated financial statements for senior management review.
• Prepare closing journal entries and accruals
• Perform account analysis and prepare bank reconciliations for all Company cash accounts
• Prepare/generate monthly P&Ls for all divisions from SAP BPC software and analyze financial statements for discrepancies
• Obtain high level P&L variance explanations from members of the department
• Prepare financial reporting packages for all networks for senior management review
• Coordinate with members of the department to obtain relevant support for senior management review meetings
• Prepare balance sheet and statement of members’ equity
• Prepare SAP ledger detail reports for mass distribution
• Assist Manager in preparation of monthly “Blue Book” financial results and support
• Monitor monthly financial reporting close pre-check procedures and update as new procedures are needed
• Obtain and track balance sheet reconciliations prepared by other members of the department; ensure all balances are properly reconciled and reviewed and all approved reconciliations are saved on the Accounting shared drive
• Prepare forecast and budget P&Ls for all divisions
• Prepare quarterly MD&A trial balance variance analyses, as well as consolidated balance sheet, income statement and statement of member’s equity
• Compile drafts of the annual accounting calendar and supplemental calendar
• Assist department in ad hoc system testing projects
• Assist Manager with ad hoc requests
• Assist Manager in annual external audit conducted by the Company’s external auditors by obtaining support from members of the department and performing ad hoc requests
Qualification Requirements
Expert level Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills
Highly knowledgeable in accruals and GAAP accounting
General understanding of financial reporting and consolidation process (i.e purchase vs equity accounting, intercompany eliminations)
2-3 years of experience
Big 4 Public Accounting and/or private industry preferred
Ability to combine strong quantitative skills with excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to develop relationships with key contacts
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Eagerness to improve efficiency efforts and analyze complex business relationships
Excellent analytical, financial modeling and research skills
Excellent project management skills
Attention to detail

Familiarity with media/entertainment businesses
Educational Requirements BS/BA in Accounting

CPA licensure
SAP/BPC software experience
