Senior Director, Program Management
Job Summary:
A Senior Director, Project Management at SapientRazorfish is equal parts PM guru, strategic thinker, consummate problem solver, trusted advisor, team leader, priority juggler and seasoned cat herder.
People in this role go beyond just managing large accounts or portfolios…they’re also player/coaches, facilitators, collaborators, and community builders. They roll-up their sleeves, they help teams see the forest through the trees, and they’re not afraid to color outside the lines.
You are a Project Management expert who is also adept at client management and team leadership. You will be accountable for delivery, the client relationship and ensuring we fulfill our promises (quality and timelines to the client and revenue / profit to the company).
You thrive on building long-lasting partnerships with clients, quickly learn the nuances of their business and create impact by helping them to solve their complex challenges.
You’ll be leading portfolio of accounts / programs while providing daily leadership to large, multi-discipline teams in distributed global teams and clients to deliver digital solutions.
You have a deep understanding about various commercial parameters / project types and their business impact on delivery.
You will help drive solution shaping, scoping, planning and costing for both new and organic business.
You have a lot of been there/done that from past projects and are willing share your knowledge and lessons learned with your project and other teams. You will also lead initiatives within the PM discipline at local, national and possibly global level.
You lead by example when setting up projects and programs – creating positive team environments. You are great a building relationships and driving team collaboration. You ensure that your teams foster individual development and set a high bar for performance standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Leads a $15M - $25M portfolio with primary delivery responsibility for an account / program of at least $10M.
• Structures, establishes and manages integrated projects and programs to ensure quality, on-budget, on-time delivery. Oversees the development and tracking of integrated estimations, project plans and metrics.
• Manages large, complex project/program (50+ people / $10M project budget) to an acceptable level of risk by balancing scope, time, cost and quality.
• Maintains awareness of the current industry environment that shapes opportunities for client solutions (i.e. news events, trends, mergers, etc.).
• Provides vision, purpose, direction and motivation to team. Clarifies and communicates program objectives and success criteria. Mobilizes team to execute.
• Adapts and applies PM methodologies to meet program objectives and client business drivers.
• Leads proposal efforts and can sell SapientRazorfish value proposition. Also able to identify and shape follow-up / cross-sell opportunities at existing clients.
• Leads diverse teams (i.e., multiple disciplines, across geographies, potential partners involved) to deliver integrated solutions that achieve measurable business results for our clients.
• Accountable for project / engagement finances
• Understands legal implications of an engagement. Drives contract negotiations.
• Responsible for building and maintain relationships with client's senior leadership team
• Establishes and maintains program / engagement communications including detailed status/ issues and executive level steering / governance
• Manages the growth of the project / engagement team.
• Contributes to PM discipline initiatives focused on consistent delivery quality, growing our PM talent and ensuring collaboration / knowledge sharing
• Participates in recruitment and hiring activities, including interviewing and conducting hiring exercises within the Program Management Discipline.
Experience Guidelines:
• Project Management
◦ 15+ years of project management experience in delivering large digital solutions including customer / user experience, strategy, data and technology. Experience implementing marketing / content, CRM and commerce platforms preferred.
◦ Proven track record leading multiple full project life-cycles from business development to final delivery.
◦ Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously (preferably in an integrated program).
◦ Extensive experience of leading technology projects and managing globally distributed teams of 50+ people
◦ Familiarity with Agile and Iterative Development (or other new methodologies).
• Client Relationship / Consultative Selling
• Extensive experience in consulting and/or client-facing role
• Client management experience with primary accountability for peer-level client relationships at the executive level, C-level preferred.
• Accountability for budget or client revenue of $10M
• Accountability for a $15M-$25M portfolio accounts / programs
• Experience helping to drive business development efforts and/or selling consulting services with new and existing clients.
• Familiarity with shaping and delivering retainer type engagements including AOR and capacity based agile delivery teams
• Proven track record of leading large RFP responses / sales pursuits
Essentials
• 5+ years in a leadership role within a consulting or digital agency
• Direct managerial responsibility for up to 10 individuals.
• Proven player / coach that can seamlessly transition between the big-picture and the tactical details
• Excellent presentation, negotiation and facilitation skills.
• Openness to travel and work at client offices.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent military experience
• MBA / Master’s degree preferred
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business or related field desired
