IMAX Internships
At IMAX our internships offer visibility, hands-on learning, and practical work experience in a fun, friendly environment. We are committed to challenging and developing creative, hardworking students through a variety of interesting projects and responsibilities to supplement the student’s classroom training. Interns are encouraged to explore, develop and share their ideas while gaining valuable experience in the entertainment industry.
Required Skills:
IMAX POST is a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment. The Digital Post Production Internship provides a very hands-on approach to learn the ins and outs of the digital cinema process – from receiving raw elements to servicing our ever-expanding network with Hollywood’s biggest features.
What you’ll be doing:
• General office administrative and post production support, depending upon skill set
• Data entry, record keeping and database creation and maintenance
• Physical and electronic shipment of DCP's and KDM's to theaters and related follow-up
• Data management, transfers, archiving, notification – internal and external clients
• Receiving, bar-coding and logging client media into digital media vault and communication to stakeholders
• Customer service oriented follow up with theatres to ensure delivery and playability of materials delivered
• QC testing and pre-screening of versioned product – subtitles, dubs, censor-edits
• DCP duplication from approved masters, verification, QC and packing for shipment to global IMAX theater network
• Assisting with conform and render of incoming client media and audio sync
• Continuing the work of our ongoing post-production workflow documentation, which outlines the processes performed for content of any type, and capturing the details to perform tasks related to that content into an instructional manual.
What we’re looking for:
• A minimum of three years of post-secondary education in a related field
• Basic understanding of typical digital cinema mastering terminology and workflow advantageous
• A high level of attention to detail is required
• Ability to multitask in fast-paced environments as well as the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
• Problem solving and critical thinking with proactive initiative to go the extra mile to maintain high quality standards in diverse work environments
• Demonstrated security awareness and attention to the management of confidential information
• May work under direct supervision or independently
• Excellent communication skills, moderate to high level Microsoft Office skills and experience with database management
• Linux, Unix, Python, PHP and After Effects a plus
• Fluency in other languages an asset to assist with International customer service
• Long hours, some late evening and weekend work is expected to support production deadlines
