Scientific American, Editorial Intern
Scientific American, the longest continuously published magazine in the U.S., has been bringing its readers unique insights about developments in science and technology for more than 170 years. Scientific American has 3.5 million print and tablet readers worldwide and publishes 13 local language editions, which are read in more than 30 countries across the globe.
Scientific American seeks an intern who has an interest in science journalism and can prove they are likely to excel at it. The chosen candidate will be fully integrated into our team and contribute to our award-winning coverage of science discoveries and technology innovations that matter.
Description:
The summer internship includes such duties as assisting editors, reporting, proofreading, fact checking, attending editorial meetings, and proposing and writing short articles for Scientific American magazine and Scientific American online. Interns typically leave with at least a handful of clips. This paid position requires 3 to 5 days a week—up to 40 hours—in our New York City offices from May/June through August/September 2018.
Qualifications:
Must have command over the basics of reporting and writing and a strong interest in science and technology topics. An undergraduate degree in a science discipline is preferred but not required.
