HMH is looking for a Senior Product Marketing Manager.The Senior Product Marketing Manager is responsible for providing a professional commitment to advancing teaching and learning. This role leverages the passion and commitment to plan and implement successful go-to-market strategies that capture market share. A leader by nature, the Product Marketing Manager, Elementary Literacy, exudes the daily energy and optimism needed to navigate today’s highly complex and competitive elementary literacy market.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Creates measurable and strategic integrated marketing plans.
• Develops messaging that resonates with teachers and administrators.
• Acts as Subject Matter Expert when collaborating with or training cross-functional teams.
• Develops state and district-specific marketing collateral to support elementary literacy campaigns in open territory and adoption states.
• Writes a broad range of marketing communications including website content, email, social media posts, blogs and newsletters.
• Leads team of stakeholders in the development of sales presentations.
• Maintains strong relationships with the field, product management and other stakeholders to ensure integrity with the core message and positioning of assigned program(s).
• Provides training and strategic advice for key sales opportunities.
• Uses data to gauge effectiveness of marketing plans and promotional campaigns.
• Analyzes competitors’ programs to deliver winning competitive analysis reports and training to the field.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience:
• Requires BS/BA in marketing, English, communications or related field
• 7+ years’ experience in educational publishing, within marketing, sales, or product management roles; with proven experience in creating and executing strategic integrated marketing campaigns and capturing market share
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Proficient in MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

• Self-starter: takes initiative and ownership, meets deadlines, exhibits deep understanding of the pedagogy, needs, and challenges faced by the elementary literacy customer, and is able to translate this understanding into customer-centric marketing strategies and deliverables.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to persuasively present our elementary literacy programs to multiple internal and external stakeholders.

• Proven ability to develop deep product and market knowledge.

Preferred Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
• Master’s degree a plus
• 3+ years’ experience as an elementary teacher preferred
• Able to balance the big picture and attention to detail
• Meet and often exceed deadlines
• Write a broad range of creating and compelling writing content, including: advertisements, blogs, articles, emails, social media posts, and newsletters
• Understanding of current curriculum-related funding initiatives
• Understanding of the social media universe, including leading and niche channels (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, blogs, etc.); using and analyzing results from social intelligence tools
Travel:
• Approximately 10 - 20%, travel required, possibly more during intensive periods of training or campaigns.
Physical Requirements:
• Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing).
• The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
This position can be based in Itasca, IL, Orlando, FL, New York, NY; and highly qualified remote candidates can be considered as well.
