Description
As an intern at the News Assignment Desk, you will experience how local news is gathered, covered, and shaped into a newscast. You will make beat calls, answer phones, communicate with news crews in the field and follow-up on story ideas.
Key activities
• Conduct interviews
• Research stories
• Contributing story ideas
• Logging tape
• Going into the field and helping with stories
Education & Experience/Certifications
• Enrolled at an accredited college or university
• Registered as a Sophomore or above and in good stranding
• Receive college/university course credit for participating in this program. The amount of course credit to be earned is determined and must be verified by the college/university, prior to starting assignment.
Skills & Abilities
• Computer/typing skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in person and on the phone
• Completed at least one broadcast journalism writing course
• Good organization skills Investigation Unit
• Computer-based research abilities
• Strong writing skills Sales
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Dress professionally
