Overview
HarperCollins is seeking an enthusiastic intern interested in learning many aspects of the publishing industry to work primarily on non-fiction books on the Creative Development team.
This summer internship is a paid opportunity (28 hours per week), and it will run from June 11 through August 16 for a total of 10 weeks.
Responsibilities
• Assist with editorial tasks on upcoming titles, including transmittals, editorial submission forms, photo inserts, cover memos, and more.
• Create research packets and proposals for potential authors, while continuing to look for new and fresh ideas for books.
• Coordinate with authors to schedule visits to the office and the video studio.
• Bring innovative and new perspectives which would be beneficial in seeking new and amazing authors.
Qualifications
• Applicants must be entering their junior or senior year of college, a grad student, or a college graduate
• Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong analytical reading and writing skills
• Strong communication skills
• Is detail-oriented and organized
• Ability to juggle multiple projects
• An interest in book publishing
• Familiar with video editing a plus
• Pop culture savvy/should not be afraid to suggest fresh ideas
• Social media savvy and familiar with Facebook Live
