Requirements
This is a contracted position; the successful candidate will be employed by Headway Workforce Solutions working on-site at Macmillan Learning, out of the Downtown Manhattan office.
Purpose of the Role:
Macmillan Learning is seeking an Editorial Contractor for the Curriculum Solutions team. The Editorial Contractor will provide support for the NY based custom digital team, assisting in the production of all custom digital projects containing Macmillan Learning content.
This is a contract position, with the expectation of working 20-35 hours per week. At least some, but preferably all, of this time should be spent each week at Macmillan’s NYC location at 1 New York Plaza, with the option to work remotely for some of the time. The initial contract period will be 6 months, and the position will be considered for extension after the initial 6 month period.
Responsibilities:
• Assist media and print editors with providing custom digital solutions to adopters. Work may include but is not limited to:
• Proofreading and Quality Assurance testing
• Working in ePub and PDF e-book formats
• Building courses to customer requirements
• Detail-oriented work in question banks and assessment programs
• Apply a thorough understanding of Macmillan Learning’s digital platforms when working on custom solutions and how to efficiently meet the specific needs of our customers
• Collaborate with print and media editorial teams company-wide to assist in developing project plans
• Troubleshoot technical issues reported by customers and offer quick solutions
• Provide other administrative support as needed
Required Skills/Knowledge:
• Ability to work collaboratively with sales, media production, editorial and marketing, as well as the digital team in Plymouth, MI
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently
• Must demonstrate strong problem solving skills and the ability to offer creative solutions
• Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word and Excel mandatory, Adobe Acrobat Pro
• Experience with course management systems a plus (e.g. Blackboard, Moodle, D2L etc.)
Experience Needed:
• Previous experience and/or internships in educational publishing preferred
• Previous educational technology experience preferred
Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree required
