Description
The Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships works to promote and manage the programming and initiatives of CulturalDC within the community. They are responsible for managing a comprehensive portfolio of real estate consulting projects that bring public art, artist housing, and community engagement initiatives to development projects across the DC Metro area. The Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships also manages Operations, Programming, and Consulting staff, ensuring the fulfillment of CulturalDC’s mission in all projects.
Responsibilities:
Cultivate business opportunities, including arts space development and public art projects, and create proposals for new project opportunities
Develop project plans and track multiple project timelines and manage pipeline of new opportunities
Develop and expand CulturalDC’s relationships and collaboration with the local commercial real estate and economic development industries to facilitate the incorporation of art and art spaces in real estate projects
Develop events and programs for key initiatives such as SPACE4, VisionDC, etc.
Engage with community stakeholders around arts projects and initiatives
Develop and track all programmatic budgets
Assist with grant-writing as it pertains to programming narratives and budgets
Develop and lead strategic initiatives in visual and performing arts programming and consulting
Manage Operations Manager, Programs Associate, Interns, and Community Liaisons
Oversee all programming and work with the Programs Associate to ensure all programs and initiatives fulfill CulturalDC’s mission
Oversee Operations Manager and ensure the integrity of program spaces
Nurture and manage positive relationships with clients, local government agencies, community stakeholders, nonprofit partners, artists and arts organizations
Work with local government offices to advocate for the arts
Engage in Board related initiatives, including; Board meeting preparation, strategic planning, Board development, etc.
Develop and manage relationships with Space4 partners
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Art or Arts Management required, Master’s degree preferred
7-10 years of experience in Arts Management required
Experience working with the commercial real estate community in the DMV is essential
Experience collaborating with local government agencies, community organizations, and other arts organizations is essential
Previous experience developing and managing project budgets
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills
Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills
Strong time management skills and ability to multitask
Candidates must be available to work some evenings and weekends. This is a full-time position with paid-leave, health insurance, and benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience.
