Job Description
The Creative Director at KSDK will partner with the Marketing Director to lead in setting the creative vision for the station. We are looking for someone that provides leadership for their team to drive, elevate and evolve the KSDK brand through compelling experience, messaging and design. The ideal candidate will be conceptual, strategic, collaborative and an all-around creative star. We are looking for someone who is capable of coming up with big ideas and experiences, and executes the vision. The Creative Director must be a great leader with the ability to maximize the talents of their team.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with the Marketing Director in setting the creative vision for the brand and translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies
• Manage the creative process from concept to completion including creative discussion
• Spearhead the creative team, harnessing their development and performance, in a manner that assures maximum efficiency and creativity
• Manage, supervise, review and audit the work of the team and ensure the creative level expected of KDSK is being met.
• Act as brand guardian to ensure all design collateral produced is faithful to the KSDKs brand guidelines and strategy
• Diligently organize and prioritize workload, especially around deadlines, and have the flexibility to respond to increases in workload/tight deadlines.
Job Requirements
Key Skills and Qualifications:
• An intimate understanding of design, copy and web best practices/guidelines
• Proficiency with a variety of software, including Photoshop, InDesign, Flash, After effects, etc.
• Excellent leadership skills
• Excellent communication skills, ability to challenge the status quo
• Self Starter – always hungry to achieve and learn
• Easily adaptable – not averse to change
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced atmosphere
• Proven ability to prioritize, work independently, manage time effectively and follow through on tasks/responsibilities
Basic Qualifications
• 5+ years of relevant experience, 5+ years of management experience
• Expert level Adobe Creative Suite, Cinema 4D and Graphic and Motion Graphic skills
• Experience with TV, Digital and media a plus
• Ability to work with teams from various disciplines, including other designers, news staff, sales department, and promotional department.
• Experience with graphics playback systems, including Vertigo, Newsticker, Namedropper, Chyron
• Experience with editing systems, including Edius and Premiere Pro
• Proficiency for navigating multiple workflows for various on-air graphic devices
