We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join Snap Inc! We’re looking for a proactive, self-directed person who can manage the overall activities of compensation expense, including variance analysis and process improvement. Working from our Santa Monica, CA headquarters, you’ll collaborate with a team of finance professionals and business partners throughout the company.
What you’ll do:
• Work alongside colleagues in the Finance, Payroll, Equity and HR teams to ensure accurate GAAP reporting of compensation expense
• Prepare monthly JEs for international payroll related transactions
• Assist with monthly reconciliations of compensation related accounts
• Assist with flux and variance explanations as part of the monthly close process for compensation accounts, along with other areas as assigned
• Manage and respond to inquiries related to financial compensation data
• Account for stock-based compensation and transactions
• Optimize processes and procedures for scalability
• Provide support for the annual financial statement audit and periodic internal audits
• Maintain the Payroll narrative
• Play a key role in general process improvements and process documentation for all facets related to compensation accounting
• Create reports to support or improve the operational excellence of the Functional Accounting team
• Provide support for other ad hoc analyses and projects as needed
What we’re looking for:
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance
• 2+ years of accounting experience with an emphasis on payroll and commissions
• Exceptional analytical skills and strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLookUps, etc.) required
• Strong accounting knowledge with an understanding of US GAAP
• Someone with Big 4 or Fortune 500/private/startup company experience
• Ability to work in a deadline driven environment and perform several tasks concurrently
• Someone who possesses excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills, as well as excellent attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
• A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to multitask, think creatively, and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
• A detail-oriented individual who has exceptional organizational skills
• Experience with Workday/Cloudpay/Netsuite preferred
