As Senior Sales Manager, you will be responsible for directing and executing strategic licensing business for magazine brands ranging from Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Runner’s World, Prevention and Bicycling. The scope of the role includes managing both our existing licensing partners and also the recruitment and on-boarding of new licensing partners, which combined will cover a wide range of licensed products. In this critical, high profile role you will drive the key initiatives that will facilitate licensing revenue growth of these titles in the United States and Canada and support the mission of Hearst Brand Development overall.
As a licensing expert in the fitness, wellness, nutrition sector you will build a cohesive and actionable licensing partner growth plan that will support the overall licensing, revenue and brand building objectives. You have a deep understanding of the licensing sales process, with experience in across wide-ranging categories. You are excited and energized about the potential of the convergence of traditional and digital in the media world.
Partnering with internal and external resources, you will help develop and execute new licensing programs, expand existing partners’ products into new channels of distribution, increase licensed product sales through ecommerce with specific focus on Amazon. You will ensure that our licensing partners deliver best in class product designs, innovation and quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
-Develop strategic sales plans that will support the overall licensing department growth and profitability goals.
-Develop 3-year strategic plan with licensing partners to achieve revenue growth, including product road planning, customer expansion, and a strong emphasis on ecommerce sales growth.
-Work closely with Hearst Enthusiast titles’ new and existing domestic licensing partners to develop successful strategic partnerships.
-Identify potential new categories and develop lists of target prospects.
-Identify trends and apply them to current business strategies.
-Be a deal-maker and exceptional at closing.
-Assist in the on-boarding and signing of new partners.
-Manage annual licensing royalty budget and develop plans to exceed operating plan, tracking on a monthly basis.
-Provide insight to continuously improve the licensing process
-Conduct business reviews with each partner annually and be fully immersed in their business on a month-to-month basis, supporting their business needs and assisting to execute their growth plans.
-Assist licensing partners with the brand and product approval process, working closely with Legal, Marketing, Creative and Product Development to insure delivery of best in class products.
-Negotiate contracts, extensions, amendments and renewals
SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
-5+ years of industry sales experience required, preferably with a strong understanding of the consumer media magazine business.
-Knowledge of the fitness, wellness, nutritional product space is preferred.
-Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing or related discipline is preferred.
-Have relationships with potential licensees across key brand expansion categories befitting the Hearst Enthusiast titles.

-Ability to travel to trade shows, licensee meetings and presentations, etc.tc.
