Consultant
Metrostudy, a Hanley Wood Company, is the nation’s leading consulting firm, providing primary and secondary market information to the housing, retail, and related industries nationwide. Metrostudy is seeking a highly motivated individual to work in the position of Consultant in the Baltimore-Washington DC metropolitan area. The position entails compiling and analyzing housing and economic market data, traveling to visit real estate development sites (primarily residential), and contributing to the creation of custom consulting reports. Metrostudy consulting engagements typically involve strategic planning, market research, and/or financial analysis within the housing industry for clients that include land developers, homebuilders, lending institutions, investors, municipalities, and school districts.
This position focuses on market research and analysis in the Northern Virginia and greater Baltimore areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Conducting in-depth market research and analysis on custom consulting projects, which may include field research (travel by car and/or air) as well as in-office, desktop research.
• Provide conclusions on project by collecting, verifying, and analyzing property information, competitive properties, housing activity trends etc.
• Present findings and conclusions to clients in both written and oral form, with consistent follow-up to meet client needs.
• Develop and maintain effective client relationships and identify opportunities for growth within the industry.
• Work within a team of Regional Directors, Managing Consultants, and Market Analysts.
• Ensure timely completion of assigned projects.
Education & Professional Credentials
• Minimum 5 years of market research/consulting experience, or 10 years of experience in real estate, finance, valuation, appraisal, market research, or related field
• Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in relevant discipline (e.g . Economics, Real Estate, Business, Marketing, or other related field).
• Prior experience with feasibility, valuation, forecast analysis is preferred.
Desired Skills and Experience
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, & Outlook), and specifically, have advanced MS Excel skills
• Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills including documentation of findings and recommendations
• Strong analytical skills
• Familiarity with additional real estate programs, and especially Metrostudy’s Metrosearch platform preferred
• The ideal candidate will be extremely well-organized, a quick learner, and take great pride in their work, and be able to work both individually and within a team
• Must be able to handle highly confidential information in a strictly professional manner
• Should enjoy analysis, research, problem-solving, and helping clients make educated decisions
Ability to Travel
• Field work is typically involved, ranging from local to throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, with potential for national work, as required based on client requests/commitments.
