Overview
The Marketing Strategy Intern is a member of the Marketing, Branding, and Communications (MBC) department, and is responsible for supporting marketing strategy initiatives. The intern will help create marketing plans for NPR launches, events, and organization-wide projects. They will report to the Senior Marketing Manager, and work closely with the Marketing Strategy and Creative teams. The intern’s insightful contributions will help develop, expand, and maintain NPR’s marketing channels.
Projects/Goals
• Perform market analysis and research on organizations who are leaders in smart speakers to help ensure NPR is at the forefront of technological innovation
• Advise on strategies to strengthen NPR’s role in thought leadership, and help position NPR talent and leadership as broadcast and podcast experts
• Aid in distribution of marketing materials across the organization
• Assist with the creation of marketing briefs and interface with internal clients on fresh initiatives
• Study listener analytics (click-through rate and user engagement) from online ad campaigns to help inform tactics to grow audience
Qualifications
• Knowledge of best marketing practices for email, websites, and apps
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills
• Experience with MS Office, Google docs, business tools and applications (ex: Slack, Trello)
• Familiarity with marketing and online applications (CRM tools, online analytics, Google Adwords) a plus
• Passion for the marketing industry and its best practices
• Creative thinker and doer who is a fan of public radio
