DEPARTMENT Guest Services/Concert Halls and Operations OVERVIEW Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: it is the world’s leading presenter of superb artistic programming, is a national leader in arts education and community relations, and functions as the manager of the Lincoln Center campus. LCPA presents over 350 performances annually throughout our different performance series including American Songbook, Great Performers, Live from Lincoln Center, Mostly Mozart Festival, Midsummer Night Swing, Lincoln Center Out of Doors and White Light Festival. In addition, LCPA’s supports an array of programs for Lincoln Center Education including its community and family programming. Further, LCPA supports initiatives related to events at the David Rubenstein Atrium, LC Kids, as well as numerous key institutional initiatives. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Lincoln Center’s Access Ambassador Program is designed to introduce students with disabilities to working within a performing arts environment. Through weekly in-school training sessions as a group, students learn concrete job skill tasks, as well as social skills, teamwork and self-assessment. Students practice these skills during volunteer shifts at Lincoln Center, where, supported by both school, Lincoln Center staff and parents, they greet guests and assist with family programs. In addition to skills directly related to their volunteer shifts, students participate in informational interviews with staff from a variety of departments, as well as mock interviews, to better understand available careers and their personal interests. The Temporary Part-Time Access Ambassador Job Coach position is responsible for planning and executing weekly in-school lessons, coordinating with school administrators, and providing on-site coaching at student volunteer shifts. This position is from February to June. We anticipate it will require a 20 hour per week commitment February through May, with a 10 hour per week commitment in the remaining month. Hours will include both on-site job coaching at Lincoln Center, program development and administrative tasks, and off-site for in-school lessons at three to four partner high schools, with five to twelve students each, throughout New York City. The Temporary Part-Time Access Ambassador Job Coach will report to the Assistant Director of Accessibility and Guest Services and work closely with other members of the Accessibility department. QUALIFICATIONS • Teaching or coaching experience with children or young adults with developmental disabilities required • Prior experience working in transition programs and/or job support strongly preferred • Knowledge of front-of-house and performing arts organizations preferred but not required • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Education, Museum Studies/Education, Social Work, Disability Studies, or other similar programs required • Ability to commit to a part-time schedule for the duration of the academic school year required • Evening and weekend shifts, as well as many weekday morning shifts are required ANTICIPATED DURATION: February 2018-June 2018
