Description
VENUS seeks a full time registrar/collection manager for their Upper East Side gallery. The ideal candidate will be a great problem solver, understand the importance of discretion and have the ability to be a team player among a small gallery staff.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping and installation quotes for exhibitions as well as individual sold artworks
- Manage local, domestic and international shipping for all gallery exhibitions, art fairs and private viewings
- Manage and update gallery and collection inventory in Art Base
- Write consignment and loan agreements for incoming and outgoing artworks for exhibitions and art fairs
- Liaise with insurance company and keep up to date on additions, removals, and movements of artworks on policy; obtain Certificates of Insurance as needed
- Manage onsite and off site storage and all movements
- Maintain gallery vendors including construction contractors, photographers, lighting contractors
- Ability to perform well under tight deadlines and pressure
- Take and manage condition reports and liaise with conservators for necessary treatment plans
Requirements:
- At least 2 years registration experience at a high profile contemporary art gallery
- Professional demeanor and knowledge of foreign languages a plus
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in art history/fine art
- Exceptional organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Some knowledge of art handling a plus
- Familiarity with Art Base, Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites
Position hours are from Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM with some additional hours as needed. Salary commensurate based upon experience.
