Description
Fox Sports Media Group (FSMG) is looking for a Financial Analyst to work in the General Accounting group, and more specifically to specialize in accounting for rights and productions. This position will work extensively with members of the Finance group as well as the Accounting group to book accruals, reclassifications and adjustments, as well as maintaining rights schedules and performing variance analyses related to rights and the production of various events. He/she must be able to handle a large volume of tasks regarding these areas. He/she must work closely with business units to complete assigned tasks.
He/she should be able to work independently and strive to resolve issues and complete tasks without supervision. This position reports to the Manager of Production & Rights Accounting and is located in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for rights and production close process for over 10 networks
• Prepare monthly rights amortization, production flash accruals and prepaid talent amortization
• Prepare balance sheet reclassification entries for rights, including AP Trade
• Interact directly with Finance group to obtain proposed journal entries, resolve unusual items or discrepancies/reclassifications and ensure all production and rights schedules are up to date
• Prepare adjusting entries in a timely manner
• Prepare monthly production analysis reporting to management, including program cost variance analysis, season trend analysis and analytic reporting
• Prepare production and rights related accounts reconciliations for FSMG networks
• Active role in implementing process improvements and internal controls testing to ensure compliance with Company policy and SOX
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Ensure E1 Job Cost system is maintained and standardized
• Ensure completion of quarterly 21st Century Fox reporting schedules
• Prepare monthly cash flows – rights and production sections only
• Monitor standardization of production and rights process across networks, ensuring consistency in treatment and submissions from Finance to streamline processes
• Responsible for ad hoc reporting, analysis and/or other projects as required
Qualifications
• Ability to handle large volume of entries for review given deadline constraints
• Detail oriented while maintaining efficiency
• Bachelor degree with emphasis in Finance or Accounting
• 1-3 years accounting experience is required – general accounting skills are a plus
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and the aptitude to communicate with all levels of management
• Knowledge of JD Edwards Enterprise One or other ERP general ledger system a plus
• The ability to work independently following proscribed schedules and be resourceful. The model candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while multitasking with attention to detail, accuracy and excellent follow up
