OVERVIEW
This position manages the monthly accounting requirements for IFC Entertainment as well as assists in the Annual Budget and Quarterly Forecast process. The Senior Analyst is responsible for monitoring, reporting and evaluating issues that require corrective action on revenue and expenses for the IFC Entertainment versus projected quarter on quarter growth and budgeted annual performance. This position is the primary financial liaison for the respective operational departments, accounting and finance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in creation of annual budget and five-year plan financials according to a published timetable. Create and distribute budget packages to business and department heads. Assist and advise department heads in formulating plans that are in line with operating objectives. Review plans with business heads and refine as needed. Ensure that plans and presentation packages comply with corporate guidelines and are consolidated into the corporate database.
• Assist in creation of quarterly forecasts according to a published time table. Create and distribute the forecast worksheets. Ensure that all direct expenditures are identified and timing is appropriately reflected in the plans. Review plans with business heads and refine as needed. Ensure that plans and presentation packages comply with corporate guidelines.
• Prepare analysis for monthly accounting close results against budget/forecast. Research variances and recommend corrective action to managing department heads.
• Assist the operating units with the preparation of the monthly expense accruals for the accounting close process.
• Perform reconciliations of revenue and expense to the general ledger on a monthly basis to budget/forecast.
• Ensure that all Essbase models are efficient and standardized by periodically evaluating whether enhancements and revisions are necessary.
• Liaison with corporate finance to coordinate response to any requests made.
• Manage year-end close process ensuring that all appropriate entries are made and any issues resolved.
• Analyze film performance in various exploitation windows, assist with development of film trending/tracking models.
• Approve payments, expense reports, corporate cards and internal deal memos for all operating departments.
• Prepare ad hoc analysis for VP of Finance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines
• Highly organized, clear communicator, able to address large groups
• Ability to delegate, supervise and motivate people
• Project management skills-ability to manage several projects simultaneously with accurate and timely results
• Ability to establish working relationships with people in all levels of the company
• Extensive knowledge/industry experience in film entertainment environment
• Proficient with Excel and working knowledge of relational database information system
• Advanced analytical skills
• High level understanding of accrual accounting and balance sheets
• Complete working knowledge of financial projections, ROI’s, valuations
• Extensive experience in the areas of budgeting, forecasting and long range planning
• Essbase knowledge is a plus
• Bachelors Degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting
• 3 to 5 years in Finance role.
• Entertainment industry experience a plus
