Description
Atlantic Theater Company, an award-winning not-for-profit Off-Broadway theater and NAST-accredited acting school, is seeking a Finance Manager. Reporting to the General Manager, the Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial management and human resources for the $11 million organization. The Finance Manager will maintain all nonprofit accounting standards and procedures, including creating and maintaining annual operating budget with the Managing Director and General Manager, overseeing the general ledger, developing budgets and reports for grant applications, managing the annual audit and providing oversight and recommendations to help streamline the organization’s financial reporting. The Finance Manager will ensure compliance with all Federal and State employment laws and administer the organization's payroll and employee benefit programs (e.g., health, dental, vision, life & disability insurance, transit checks, and 401(k) plan).
The Finance Manager will supervise two Finance Associates and will have regular direct interaction with senior members of the management team, the Managing Director, Artistic Director, Executive Director of the School, and the Finance, Audit and Education Committees of the Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Accounting, Business, or Arts Management) and three to five years of experience in Accounting or Finance. Non-profit experience required.
• Solid bookkeeping skills with an understanding of accounting principles and the preparation of financial statements. Experience with the special requirements of non-profit accounting, including the tracking and reconciling of temporarily restricted assets, and audit requirements.
• Computerized accounting skills required, including fluency in QuickBooks and MS Excel, familiarity with Raiser’s Edge, experience with Paylocity preferred.
• Demonstrated management skills in budgeting, financial planning, and analysis along with supervisory experience.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Self-starter, reliable and exceptionally well-organized person who is able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to maintain impeccable attention to detail and accuracy while working on multiple projects and tasks at once; excellent numerical and computational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly and diplomatically communicate financial policies to staff. Ability to articulate complicated financial concepts in a clear and concise way to both internal and external parties.
