SVP - PR & Promo IFC Theater
OPERATIONAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
The SVP of Publicity & Promotions for IFC Entertainment is responsible for all the National Publicity and Promotions relating to the Day-and-Date films and Festival Direct releases.
Responsibilities will include securing reviews and features in all the NY publications and overseeing regional PR, which includes developing and implementing promotions/screening strategies with budgetary constraints for the entire slate. This person’s duties will be full service - overseeing PR and promo agencies, overseeing the creation of press kits, including press notes, screening invitations and EPK material (budget permitting), covering all screenings, pitching all review and feature press directly, setting up phone interviews, acting as key point person to filmmakers, tracking all media, securing sponsored and university screenings, assisting in the creation of all posters and trailers, and acting as liaison between material creators and film directors.

Receives direction regarding regional playdates and cinema bookings to guide timing of pub/promo efforts

Communication of publicity goals, statuses and procedures

Coordinate delivery of publicity materials and order quantities for field and national use

OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF THIS POSITION
Responsibilities include:
• Handling of all regional PR and promotions in NY and LA.
• Developing grass-roots promotional plans in these cities and implementing these plans without agency support.
• Writing press notes, screening invitations, and inviting all press.
• Maintaining the company slate, pitching for inclusion in previews.
• Developing and implementing a PR/promotions budget for each film.
• Pitching features, pitching reviews, securing coverage in all the major papers.
• Supervising the planning and execution of press days in NY and LA – working together with the Manager of PR on arranging all hotel, air and car transportation directly and often accompanying the talent.
• Being the LEAD liaison between the day-and-date film directors and actors and the IFC Films Executives.
• Organizing phone schedules, radio or TV tours and executing directly without agency support.
• Managing all regional PR/Promo activities, which includes but is not limited to the following:
◦ Working with the Director of Marketing to manage day-to-day contact with creative teams to put together marketing materials for IFC IN THEATERS films and FESTIVAL DIRECT films and materials for programs for both, including posters, trailers, spots, advertising, in-theatre displays, postcards, mini-posters & websites.
◦ Establish promotional & word-of-mouth screenings in New York and Los Angeles.
◦ Coordinate with marketing and on-line agencies and help write directives for work to be done.
◦ Establish grass roots campaigns.

Financial metric(s):
• Work within a designated budget for field publicity screenings, agency fees and expenses.
• Track screening costs and agency costs.
• Travel talent for PA tours within set financial perimeters.
Operating metric(s):
• Write field directives for all IFC Films releases outlining field strategy and direction.
• Hire field agencies for each release based on markets opening (weighing possibility of exhibitor marketing structures).
• Establish strong relationships with account executives.
• Build relationships with key press.
• Understand logistical planning of major film festival and participate in process.
• Coordinate regional publicity tours when necessary.
• Build knowledge base of editors and freelancers.

• Knowledge and experience in developing publicity campaigns on all levels of theatrical releases and ability to adeptly balance creative and financial goals
