Description
WTMJ Radio is seeking a full-time Producer/Executive Producer, Programming to join its award-winning team. This producer is a talented, versatile, high-level thinker and multi-tasker that will produce compelling show content for on-air and online. This position will work with WTMJ Radio's hosts and producers to book guests, generate topics and develop a strong working relationship with the station staff. Operational responsibilities include maintaining and managing imaging and live liners, producing special programming and monitoring the Emergency Alert System, among other duties. Becoming part of the Milwaukee community, creating relationships with city leaders, law enforcement, state lawmakers, community advocates, business leaders, etc., are all critical aspects of the position.
The ideal candidate must have strong written and editorial judgement, excellent written and verbal communication skills required, solid understanding of producing local enterprise content, proficient use of the digital platform, high work ethics and standards, ability to meet deadlines and detail orientation, knowledge of newsroom computers required along with familiarity of areas across southeast Wisconsin.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for booking guests and making medium-level editorial decisions with collaboration from host(s) under direction of program management
• Schedule and manage part timer producers
• Produce show content for AM and PM drive time shows
• Create coverage plans for breaking news and special coverage
• Handle technical aspects and associated content decisions during live programs, including but not limited to:
• Screen/coach call screeners
• Run audio board and timing elements
• Obtain audio cuts for shows
• Edit audio
Education & Experience/Certifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
• Prior experience editing audio of broadcast quality
• Board operation experience
Skills & Abilities
• Ability to think clearly and quickly under high-pressure situations
• Strong communication skills
• Accuracy in gathering of facts and spelling
• Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws
• Demonstrated ability to work independently under strict deadline pressure
• Strong time management and organizational skills, including strict attention to detail
• Successful content generation on social media
Work environment:
• May be required to work non-standard hours, weekends, and holidays
