Position Summary
The Director, Production Finance will work in collaboration with business affairs, development, production, finance and tax planning teams to determine and make recommendations on optimal deal structures. You will work on a per project basis to maximize production financing, meet the creative requirements and support negotiations with talent and business partners.
Responsibilities
• Research and provide comprehensive information and recommendations in association with global production incentives
• Break down production budgets, as necessary, to calculate applicable tax incentives in varying jurisdictions
• Where a third-party tax incentives administrator is utilized, act as point person to oversee the services and vet the estimates and process for accuracy and ensure efficiency
• Review production cashflows for accuracy
• Coordinate weekly production funding with Producers and eOne finance during pre-prep prior to close of bank financing
• Work with producers and production accountants to ensure appropriate delegated approvals and authorities
• Prepare bank package submissions and coordinate documents and the process for bank loan closings
• Review bank deal calculations including set up fees, bank legal fees and interest calculations for completeness and accuracy based on negotiated terms
• Review weekly costs report to ensure production stays on budget and identify any issues
• Review outstanding production deposits (payroll, guilds, accommodation etc.) and insurance claims with production accountants to ensure they are repaid on a timely basis and do not negatively affect production cashflow
• Prepare and file tax incentive applications or certification applications where applicable
• Review credits to ensure compliance with production financing agreements and government agency requirements
• Work with producers and third-party administrators to ensure tax credit audits and claims are completed and filed on a timely basis in all jurisdictions
Key Competencies
• Minimum 3 -5 years in production financing related positions in feature film
• Production financing experience in Television an asset
• University or college degree
• Ability to work under pressure and in a deadline oriented environment
• Self-starter with confidence and analytical skill
• Proficiency in all MS office, especially excel
• Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
