The USA TODAY NETWORK is looking for an experienced Creative Director to play a key role in helping to shape and define the design solutions that we bring to market. You will have responsibility for important aspects of design team management, including direct oversight of more junior design professionals. The ideal candidate is collaborative, experienced, professional, and highly motivated to constantly up their design game, and that of the team that they work with.
In addition to strong visual and interaction skills, you must be able to articulate product strategy through the lens of human-centered design, to leverage data insights for increased engagement, and to shape narratives around the game-changing work we’re doing.

What you'll do:
• Help define and drive the creative strategy and execution of all of Gannett’s digital brand properties across all channels and platforms.
• Provide leadership around design, brand, user research and innovation, with a focus on strong conceptual thinking that translates into effective designs and executions.
• Own the end-to-end creative process to effectively conceptualize and communicate marketing objectives and strategies.
• Responsible for sheparding designs from concept to execution and influencing others to gain consensus
• Lead a team of creative professionals fostering career development and growth paths for team members in alignment with company and personal objectives
• Inspire team to greatness and support creative team members as they ideate, collaborate, and design new experiences.
• Collaborate and partner with cross-disciplinary teams to create world class, user-centric, branded experiences.
• Work with Brand Marketing to develop and communicate a consistent, clear brand voice and supporting visual vocabulary
• Analyze and synthesize results and data into actionable recommendations.
• Last, but never least, serve as an advocate for the user, keeping their needs at the heart of our digital products
What You Will Demonstrate:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field (Graphic Design, UX, Communications, Human Factors))
• 10+ years of design experience, 5-7+ years in a leadership role, preferably within a news, publishing or agency setting.
• Hands on expertise with brand management.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented, cross-functional environment
• Thorough understanding of user-centered design processes and practical experience in balancing customer needs with goals to drive products to market
• Thorough understanding of user research methods, and able to lead qualitative and quantitative user research.
• Fluency in best practices for mobile and web-based design, as well as strong knowledge of information architecture.
• Have deep experience in the development of digital experiences across multiple devices / platforms, designing and using a modular framework.
• Understanding of web analytics to inform data-driven CX solutions
• Strong people leadership skills including demonstrated success developing others as well as a track record of getting results in partnership with others.
• Able to communicate clearly and effectively with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Experienced in working with Content Management Systems (CMS)
• Proficiency in prototyping tools
• Hands on knowledge of Design tools (Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite. Etc.)
