The Director of Marketing will work with cross-functional teams to develop, budget, and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to drive both brand fame and revenue for Quartz and our newest editions, Quartz at Work and Quartzy.
These strategies and streams of work have B2B and B2C responsibilities:
For the trade (B2B):
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop messaging and positioning to help drive awareness for Quartz in the advertising community and among senior level marketers more specifically
• Oversee the development and implementation of the brand strategy, calendar and plan of action including clear articulation to internal team with goal of consistently communicating Quartz value proposition to marketing and advertising communities
• Collaborate with sales, product marketing and client services to develop effective sales enablement materials that help drive awareness, meetings and ultimately, sales
• Continuously research and explore industry news and current trends to anticipate best positioning and marketing tools for our business
• Prepare regular competitive analysis, insights and deliver proposed action in a way that is consumable and solutions focused
• Work closely with PR to enhance visibility and objectives through earned trade media
For consumers (B2C):
• Liaise with product and creative teams to pull appropriate promotional levers to drive traffic or “tune-in” and raise awareness for special projects, video series, product launches, etc to a consumer audience including some paid promotion, events and appearances
• Coordinate with product marketing to liaison with partner platforms to ensure quality of brand assets and explore co-marketing opportunities
• Work with PR and sales leadership where appropriate to coordinate earned promotional strategies to drive awareness of brand moments throughout the year
Additional responsibilities include:
• Oversee the organization, execution and success of Quartz branded events and Quartz presence at some partner events and conferences
• Manage and mentor a team of marketers and effectively defining what success looks like for the overall brand marketing team
• Monitoring, measuring, optimizing, and communicating the efficacy of all paid efforts
• Establish and manage a branding budget
• Report on the success of marketing campaigns using pre-determined KPIs
• Assist in development of market research studies
• Negotiate with and manage relevant vendors.
Qualifications of the ideal candidate:
• Experience with social media, PR and influencer marketing best practices, technologies and recent innovation
• Understanding of best practices for measurement of awareness and branding initiatives.
• Experience with quantitative and qualitative user insights and brand strategy development.
• Experience with managing a budget
• Proven track record of driving results
