Description
The newly formed Fox Data Analytics Group is seeking a Director of Data Science to collaborate with teams across Fox Networks Group (FNG) to identify opportunities for advanced data analytics, Machine Learning, and AI. This position will also be responsible for developing models (e.g. consumer analytics models to help understand our audiences and optimize customer lifetime value), as well as defining and testing hypotheses to provide business insights in a quantifiable, repeatable, and consistent way using experimentation and statistical methods. Other responsibilities will include defining standards for Data Science development and model governance and the management of Data Analytics vendors.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD or MS in Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Econometrics or related field, and 5+ years of experience in the Data Analytics space, with a proven track of record of delivering business value through data insights and developing data products.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with teams across FNG to identify and scope opportunities for advanced data analytics, Machine Learning, and AI to drive business value. Define a plan to achieve and measure the results of those initiatives with statistical rigor.
• Lead the design and implementation of Data Science initiatives, leveraging innovative Machine Learning/AI and statistical techniques to satisfy and optimize the business needs. Collaborate with Data Engineering team to operationalize machine learning and data analytics pipelines.
• Manage relationship with some Data Analytics and Machine Learning vendors and monitor their progress and quality of results.
• Help define standards within the Data Science team on model creation, toolset, model quality control, and model governance. Review the work of other members of the Data Science team to ensure the established standards in quality of governance are being met.
• Drive innovation by exploring new experimentation methods, state-of-the-art tools, and AI/ML techniques that could sharpen or speed up our product decision-making processes.
Qualifications
• PhD or MS in Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Econometrics or related field, and 5+ years of experience in Data Analytics with a proven record of delivering business value through providing insight and developing data products.
• Experience in the media industry or advertising industry, especially in the fields of consumer analytics, social media analytics, and campaign optimization.
• Experience with building products and solutions for initiatives related to Yield Optimization and Forecasting are a plus.
• Solid analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with all relevant groups (business management, technical teams, vendors, etc.) to articulate insight from data analytics efforts.
• Experience with Machine Learning and AI techniques, including
◦ Building Machine Learning models for classification and regression problems and evaluating its performance.
◦ Knowledge of advanced AI techniques in the field of Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision or chatbot technologies.
◦ State-of-the-art Deep Learning Techniques and Neural Networks architectures.
• Experience with relevant technologies, including:
◦ Scripting and analytical languages such as Python, Scala, and Java.
◦ SQL and non-SQL related technologies (Redshift, Hive, DynamoDB, Hbase…) for both structured and non-structured data analysis.
◦ Creating data wrangling and transformation pipelines using Spark.
◦ Scalable machine learning libraries such as MLlib, H2O, Mahout, etc.
◦ Deep Learning frameworks such as Tensorflow, Keras, Theano, etc.
◦ Data Analytics packages such as Pandas, Scikit-learn, Numpy or R.
◦ Data Visualization libraries and tools such as Tableau, D3.js, matplotlib, ggplot, etc.
◦ Cloud Technology Stacks from providers such as AWS and Google Cloud.
• Self-motivated and able to work well both independently and in a team environment. Must be organized and able to manage multiple and complex tasks simultaneously.
