Requirements
As part of the Macmillan Learning Communication and College Success team, the editorial assistant for media manages the creation, tracking and publication of valuable multimedia materials that support teaching and learning. The assistant media editor plays a significant role in supporting the Communication and College Success editorial team, the senior media editor, and, ultimately, sales reps, adopters, and students in the use of the materials he or she creates. The assistant media editor will coordinate responsibilities and projects with the senior media editor well as work independently.
Major Responsibilities
• Help develop content for digital products. Products need to meet high editorial standards and market needs. The assistant media editor will ensure that content is delivered on time and is aligned to support the needs of key texts.
• Coordinate with media production. Ensure the timely publication of multimedia resources by communicating regularly with all stakeholders regarding publication schedule and project status.
• Stay current on competing products and services. Gain and supply content market knowledge through competitive reviews and analysis.
• Support sales and marketing. Prepare and provide detailed content information during the marketing and sales process.
• Share knowledge. Support knowledge transfer to the editorial group by organizing presentations/trainings and serving as a resource for editorial colleagues.
• Assist print editorial and media production with online course creation. Oversee and contribute to course creation, tracking, QA, and launch. Ensure that each LP has everything it needs, that functionality is in place, that content is accurate and findable in search.
• Manage Assessment. Participate in all areas of Test bank creation, from providing templates to test bank authors/vendors to Diploma to QBA ingestion and troubleshooting.
• Make corrections to adaptive learning software manuscripts. Answer LCCQ- tickets logged in JIRA.
• Keep current and attain proficiency on new Macmillan software. Train on new company software and be prepared to share information/troubleshoot with colleagues.
• Work with freelance authors and vendors. Employ outside help and/or in-house contractors as needed within budgetary constraints to increase efficiency in delivering quality content and media.
• Manage video inventory. This includes adding metadata, adjusting filters, managing the proper importing and addition of new videos, and video analytics.
Special Initiatives
• Visit a local campus with a sales rep. Be prepared to offer detail and value propositions on Communication and/or College Success media offerings while supporting the sales rep’s specific goals for the call. (If possible, accompany rep to the campus bookstore to conduct competitor research and/or talk to bookstore manager.)
• Collaborate on student focus group(s). Work with senior media editor to plan, prepare and conduct student focus groups. This will include drafting subject interview questions, writing test scripts to observe and measure user behavior, and presenting findings to the editorial staff.
• Collaborate on media surveys. Assist in creating forward-looking media surveys that respect baseline data from past questionnaires while also collecting new data to add dimension to our customer understanding. This will be accomplished in collaboration with Communication and College Success print editorial staff, digital solutions specialists, marketing managers, fellow media editorial staff from other disciplines, and product/technology as needed.

Experience Requirement
• At least one year of editorial experience in college publishing. Proven record of successful project management and significant facility in MS Office applications.
• Tech savvy with a basic understanding of educational technology.
Educational Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree required
