The Blackboard Shared Services Tools Team is responsible for Administering critical Enterprise Applications and Servers that our globally distributed Product Development Teams depend on every day.
Our product development teams meet the needs of our millions of users and require tools that are reliable, highly availability and flexible to successfully do so. In turn, the Blackboard Shared Services Tools Team provides and administers critical applications that our teams require to accomplish
As a Systems Administrator you will be playing a crucial role in designing, building, extending and managing and maintaining critical Internal Enterprise tools and applications.
Responsibilities
• Administration of Internal Enterprise Applications used by our Product Development teams. Full stack from Server management to application operation.
• Serve as an escalation point for Product Development teams regarding Enterprise applications.
• Mentor Product Teams on best practices and usage for shared Enterprise tools.
• Research, Develop, Document, and implement solutions to continually improve manage, monitoring, automation of our Enterprise Applications and integrations.
• Create and/or peer review tools appropriate to the features and maintenance of Enterprise Applications
• Identify, Create and/or peer review Automate tools and processes where needed to enhance efficiency.
Required Skills:
• 4+ years Experience Managing and supporting high availability Enterprise tools and applications. Examples Include but not limited to Bug Tracking, Source Code repositories, Wiki Documentation, Communication applications and tools. Experience with administering Atlassian Suite of tools highly desirable.
• Experience in developing and deploying enterprise application and integrations.
• Experience managing and maintaining VMs through VSphere/VCenter
• Experience managing and maintaining AMIs in AWS
• Experience with Single Sign On applications
• Experience with network configuration.
• Scripting, automation and CM expertise for host deployments and maintenance.
• Experience with source management tools such as Git
• 4-8 years Linux operating systems experience with particular emphasis on Red Hat, Ubuntu, or their variants
• Strong self-directed learning skills.
• Strong, methodical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to maintain own workflow priorities with respect to departmental or organizational priorities, and complete work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to meet attendance standards and provide off-hours operational support.
• Ability to work harmoniously and effectively as part of a team
• A strong desire to improve what can be improved and a good eye to see this.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in reading and generating SQL queries
• Experience Administering and/or developing plugins or modifications for the Atlassian suite of products.
• Experience administering and configuration of integration between Enterprise applications.
• Experience with development with Java and Groovy
• Experience with code review and continuous integration tools.
• Experience working with highly virtualized environments.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent commercial experience
