Soompi, a subsidiary of Rakuten Viki, is one of the biggest global K-pop news sites and the longest-running fandom community. From innovative engagement features to original content and social shopping, Rakuten Viki and Soompi are pushing the boundaries of user engagement and social viewing.
Viki is seeking a Director, Social Media and Content Marketing. This is a full-time position located in San Mateo and reports to the Vice President of Marketing. This person will lead the growth and evolution of content and social marketing for the Viki ecosystem (Viki, Soompi, and CREATED by Viki), which has over 25 million followers on social media. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to meld data with a deep understanding of how consumers think and digital channels work to reach our core audience of highly engaged Millennials and Gen Z’ers.
Responsibilities:
• Lead social and digital campaign planning, execution and measurement for Viki and Soompi’s content, promotions and events
• Own content and channel strategy across social (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.) and video (YouTube) for growth and engagement.
• Optimize channel ecosystem and processes for impact and scalability.
• Oversee content creation and calendar to support Viki ecosystem across platforms
• Design meaningful benchmarks and identify metrics to demonstrate return on investment on campaigns and initiatives
• Create strategic partnerships with content, media and social outlets, including influencers
Qualifications:
• 6+ years in social media and digital marketing, with significant experience managing social media accounts with 1M+ followers
• 3+ years management experience including both direct reports and cross functional teams
• Extensive knowledge of how social channels (most critical: Facebook and YouTube) work, including algorithms, best practices, etc.
• Strategic, analytical thinker with excellent project management skills
• Exceptional leadership skills to grow, build and retain a talented team of marketing professionals
• Proven experience hitting key social KPIs: social engagement & audience growth
• Love of world cultures, international TV and film
• Ability to thrive and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
• Ability to work with international teams and departments across time zones, particularly in Asia
Bonus:
• Passion for or familiarity with K-Drama and/or K-Pop
• Expertise in Paid Social Media
• Ability to speak more than one language
