Requirements
The Program Manager, Lab Strategy and Custom Labs is responsible for the overall health and performance of the Macmillan Learning and Hayden-McNeil educational laboratory business across higher-ed and high-school markets including strategic, long-term planning; market development and analysis; budgeting; profitability; goal setting and attainment; relationship building and a focus on addressing customer needs and creating unique lab solutions. The Program Manager will be skilled at cultivating relationships, will have a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with the educational, classroom laboratory market, and will be able work effectively with others to implement creative and best-in-market strategies and solutions with an emphasis on digital services and solutions to enhance students pre- and post-lab experiences.
Responsibilities:
Program Management
• Ensure that lab product and services are timely to market, competitive, and meet their financial and sales goals.
• Serve as the primary contact for our content advisors, vendors, and internal resource team members. Develop relationships with product, technology, and key members of the lab community.
• Determine the plan and implement the creation of market leading lab resources to support instructors, lab coordinators, and help students to ensure that we publish market leading lab programs and services.
• Manage and oversee development of key programs to ensure timely delivery and effective roll-out of new products and services targeted to the educational lab market.
• Research, plan, and execute the development and integration of multimedia-based teaching and learning resources to provide for a robust program
• Manage and oversee the work and results of Lab Program Specialists.
Development of Team
• Work across teams and locations to bridge teams and align around strategy and planning
• Oversee hiring and management of freelance resources as needed
• Build a sense of team and camaraderie
Overall Sales and List Performance
• Travel to conferences and collaborate with marketing, sales, learning solutions specialists, as appropriate, to ensure successful sales of all lab projects and services.
• Through attendance at national conferences, interaction with the lab community, and monitoring industry trends, identify and understand customer challenges to inform product/service development.
• Seed new adoptions through events and outreach, work with reps and marketing managers to sell products and refine marketing messages. Travel to support sales efforts, as needed.
Budgets and Profitability
• Ensure timely, accurate evaluation and maintenance of budgetary information.
• Manage and serve as the key decision-maker for the P&L
• Work with marketing to determine appropriate sales forecasts and pricing strategies.
Skills/Experience Required:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in educational publishing/learning company or related industry.
Some experience with teaching in a lab environment preferred
Education Requirements: BA required; masters in a related discipline beneficial
