Requirements
Purpose of the Role:
The Content Development Manager is a subject-matter expert who oversees the multiple assets and requirements for making a SaplingPlus or Achieve course. The Content Development Manager coordinates the content and technology for one or more programs in her/his discipline(s), including making sure content is delivered within quality standards, market requirements, budget, and timelines set. S/he coordinates with Media Editors, Content Developers, Product, Technology, and other teams to ensure the content created meets and exceeds market requirements and uses the most appropriate Macmillan technology for the goals of the program.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
● Coordinate content and resources across asset types and technologies; coordinate and sometimes directly manage resources and contributors to content including freelancers, vendors, and staff. Provide feedback; establish, maintain, and confirm team priorities to ensure projects stay within budget, on time, and within quality standards.
● Keep finger on technology for Sapling, SaplingPlus, and Achieve platforms and tools. Update process, product, and content for new technology releases, expected updates and so on. Serve as primary delegate for product and technology sprint ceremonies related.
● Contribute to content assets as relates to technology, product, process, etc. and sometimes for subject matter.
● Manage customer requests, bespoke content, and other assets outside of planned program coverage.
● Manage the overall expertise and training needs of the team, which includes connecting to resources, identifying and clearing obstacles to training, etc. Maintain Program Team Roster for each program (product line). Contribute to expense and invoice roster.
● Work with marketing, program managers, product owners, sales, etc. to build prototypes and demo kits, create copy for collateral, and answer questions to generate market feedback and promote sales of product.
Skills & Experience:
Required:
● At least 1 year experience writing and reviewing content within discipline managed
● Experience teaching subject within discipline managed
● Excellent communication, both verbal and written
● Excellent natural organization and project management skills
● Critical eye for detail
Preferred:
● Expertise in using the Sapling Learning authoring system
● Experience planning and managing projects with yearly budgets over $100k
● Experience managing employees and contractors
● PMP certification
Education Required:
● BS, MS, or PhD within one of the disciplines managed
