Position overview: The Portfolio Analyst is responsible for leading the vision and go-to-market strategy for commercial success of the university level Physics and Astronomy product portfolio. The Portfolio Analyst/Acquisitions Editor is tasked with gaining deep market knowledge through customer insight and connection with thought leaders in Physics and Astronomy education, quantitative and qualitative market analysis, focus group and conference participation, and national campus travel to create the community relationships that ultimately drive product innovation, development and growth across the portfolio. Responsibilities include coordinating acquisition, investment plans and contracts for new products and authors, development of new and revising products and each products respective financial management, and growth strategy for the digital educational tools and services.
Position Responsibilities: • Develop deep discipline and market knowledge to drive product development decisions for portfolio while assessing global market demand for both print and digital opportunities across the portfolio. • Establish portfolio business case and deliver portfolio/product mix and related KPI’s including financial performance,product contribution, and learner outcomes. • Scout for and sign new authors to build strong futureproduct pipeline. • Create strong author relationships with both existing and new authors by working closely with them to outline a vision for each product. • Conduct ongoing market research including face-to-face meetings and focus groups with customers on college campuses nationwide. • Analyze product reviews and market feedback and decide best solutions for our customers that drive growth. • Collaborate with Product Management to recommend discipline relevant technology roadmap improvements. • Create P&Ls and manage overall portfolio budget. • Manage revisions and new product development • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on revision plans, sales presentations and tools, etc. • Travel as needed for focus groups, conferences, events, and campus visits to develop market insights, strengthen educator community network and drive revenue performance
Qualifications Required • BA/BS, Master's Degree desired
• At least 2 years’ experience in the education industry
• Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to synthesize multiple viewpoints and data insights into actionable plans and guidance to product teams.
• Established interpersonal communication skills and verbal, writing and presentation skills,with the ability to communicate effectively for a diverse audience. • Creative problem solver who uses data to inform decisions. • Ability to work in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). • Ability to travel 25%-30% of the time (seasonally based) to colleges and universities, sales conferences and industry conferences. QualificationsPreferred • 2 years experiences in educational markets, or education industry (academic)
