ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Build a broadly skilled BI team responsible for rapidly prototyping and delivering reporting, dashboards, and analyses
• The Accelerated Analytics team will team will be deployed when BI opportunities emerge that were not planned and time to insight is a priority
• Establish a team of resourceful analysts who can maintain high standards for quality and have a balance between functional business knowledge (Product, Supply Chain, Field Ops, Sales and Service Delivery, Customer Operations, and Marketing business functions) and technical data skills (strong business analysis, data integration, and report development skills)
• Develop team members to be capable of applying advanced data science methods and statistical techniques to test hypotheses and deliver in-depth analysis
• Understand the supported business operations, revenue and expense drivers, strategic objectives, market conditions, and other factors that drive the need for reporting and insights and adapt and deliver BI solutions in alignment with them
• Develop, document, and implement efficient work intake, prioritization, and execution processes in partnership with vertical BI Directors to ensure customer reporting work is holistically prioritized
• Initiate trade-off and prioritization discussions with vertical BI Directors to provide transparency into team throughput, delivery status and timing
• Optimize the team efficiency, and lead the team to achieve consistent progress towards goals
• Understand and follow data standards and reference data management frameworks to enable consistent and accurate reporting for the business, in partnership with other teams within the organization
• Accountable for creating and managing to an annual budget which may include expenses for professional services, software, and hardware
• Accountable for vendor management and the creation of and management of Statement of Work contracts for vendors
• Be a consistent voice with business and IT partners to drive Charter’s BI strategic imperative for building and leveraging a “single source of truth” data platform to optimize data governance and data quality
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team
• Prioritize team efforts with a keen eye toward business impact
• Prepare monthly executive summaries of accomplishments, issues, and more generally communicate progress with other leaders
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Deep understanding of analytics, including data management, business intelligence, and predictive analytics
• Understanding of how advanced data techniques can be applied to solve business problems
• Quantitative background with proven problem-solving skills
• Able to explain complex concepts in non-technical language. Strong story-telling ability
• Practical experience designing and implementing master data governance techniques to impact information
• Record of building high performing teams, including internal staff, consulting, and outsourced partners
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop a culture that anticipates and reacts well to change and adapts to an ever evolving business environment
• Strong financial acumen and understanding of how to build and sell a business case
• Skill and experience distilling a set of data and translating findings into innovative, profitable, executable, and operationally feasible solutions
• A demonstrable history of influencing others in a cross functional and matrixed environment
• A strong and consistent history of leading people and projects to a successful, high impact outcome
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal
• Ability to negotiate and defuse conflict. Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, collaborative, flexible, creative; team-building, recruiting, and talent management skills are essential
• Deep understanding and appreciation for both business and technology components of information strategy
• Familiarity with emerging BI\EDW technologies
• Cable services industry experience preferred
• Ability to identify opportunities for business process and technology improvements
• Ability to create skill development opportunities for employees
• Ability to exercise good judgment and problem solving when presented with conflicting constraints
• Technical depth in products such as Microstrategy, Teradata, Tableau, SAS, etc.
• Agile, Scrum and/or Kanban experience and experience with Jira/Atlassian tools preferred
• Strong SQL skills (7+ years)
• Good understanding of data modeling and design considerations for analytical databases
EDUCATION:
BA or BS College Degree or related work experience
Master’s Degree or MBA preferred
RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE Number of Years
Telecommunication industry leadership experience. 3+
Data analysis and business intelligence experience 7+
