Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of 7 years of leading merchandise teams in Theme Parks, Specialty Stores or high-profile retail organization strongly preferred.
• Ability to make decisions effectively in a high-pressure, high stakes environment.
• Ability to navigate complex business landscape with competing priorities.
• Engage an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to retail operations and logistics.
• Experience in successfully interfacing and effecting influence at an executive level; executive-level presentation skills.
• Experienced in managing vendor relationships and negotiations.
• Team-centered leadership style which maximizes and inspires talent in the organization and partners with vendors, peers and subordinates.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of entertainment and retail industry best practices and trends
• Working knowledge of Point of Sale/Inventory Systems, MS Office and Retail Systems.
• Ability to travel
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat. Considerable walking and transitioning between indoor and outdoor environments is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Create and ensure execution of strategic planning for retail, games, and photo services operations for San Antonio's parks, to include master planning, capital planning and conceptual planning, developed in concert with corporate partners.
• Actively partner with cross-functional teams to ensure execution and achievement of Park and Corporate initiatives.
• Ensure continuous improvement in team member engagement, guest satisfaction, efficiency and financial growth.
• Review and utilize key management science analytics to meet/exceed financial plan commitments and to make metrics-based decisions. Develop new metrics as business needs warrant.
• Foster development of team members which ensures effective training at all levels, and prepares leaders for the company's succession plan.
• Lead departmental communication plans and ensures that all levels of team are properly informed and engaged in department goals.
• Execute any senior management project assignments as directed by Park President.
• As a member of senior leadership, monitor safety, cleanliness and quality issues of park/company and carry out all leadership responsibilities in accordance with SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment standards and applicable laws.
• Take an active merchandise leadership role in identifying, influencing & supporting the overall global growth and positioning of the Merchandise Organization through partnership with Corporate VP of Merchandise and other VP’s of Merchandise for Parks.
• Lead and inspire Merchandise concepts and operations strategies/standards that benefit all SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment properties and best in class.
