Description
Since its establishment over two decades ago Lehmann Maupin has identified and cultivated the careers of an international roster of visionary and historically significant artists. The gallery has garnered a reputation for supporting artists working across disciplines and with new and challenging forms of creative expression; artists whose work has had a lasting impact on contemporary art and culture.
Lehmann Maupin is currently looking for highly motivated college or graduate-level interns for the Spring 2018 season, assisting the following departments, in addition to the Gallery Assistants:
- Communications
- Sales
- Artist Liaison
- Archives
- Registrars
The internship positions are a wonderful opportunity for current students in either undergraduate or postgraduate programs, to gain a better understanding of how an international contemporary art gallery operates. Working alongside gallery employees across various departments, interns will have the opportunity to conduct research, carry out administrative projects, and assist during exhibition openings and events. Interns will also be responsible for specific projects based on their individual department of interest.
An ideal candidate should be articulate, well organized, self-motivated, adaptable, with a willingness to learn, and an educational background in Art or Art History. Interns should be familiar with Microsoft Office, Mac computer systems, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Attention to detail and sophisticated research skills are important to completing this internship successfully.
We are looking for interns to begin in January and commit to a minimum of two days a week for at least three-four months.
University credit is required for participation in this internship program. A travel stipend is provided.
