Job Description
Summary: Provide superior guest safety at a variety of water attractions. Recognize and successfully manage aquatic emergencies by utilizing skills taught by the National Pool and Waterpark Lifeguard Training Program (NPWLTP). Also, assist guests with questions concerning rides, directions, and policies.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Receive and maintain an Ellis & Associates NPWLTP Special Facilities Lifeguard certification.
• Maintain a clean safe work environment.
• Adhere to bio-hazardous waste disposal procedures, and perform all related duties in compliance with fecal matter exposure policy.
• Remain at a test ready competency of skills at all times.
• Attend a weekly-scheduled in-service training sessions.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by park management.
• Comply with all SFA policies and procedures.
• Willfully perform duties in any department at SFA when necessary.
• Adhere to park attendance policy as stated in Team Member Handbook.
• Other duties as assigned.
Reporting Structure
• Reports directly to Aquatics Head Guards.
Minimum Requirements
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be able to swim at least 200 meters nonstop freestyle or breaststroke.
• Must be able to retrieve a 10lb brick from a water depth of 8ft.
• Physical mobility-- the ability to move in different work stations, hand and arm movement.
• Must have corrected 20/20 vision with near and far acuity.
• Previous lifeguard experience is preferred.
• Will be required to work various shifts as project and park needs dictate, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Computer literacy. Strong knowledge of all Microsoft applications.
• Must have the ability to stand, walk, crouch, bend, stoop, kneel and lift up to forty pounds occasionally.
