Position Summary
The QA Manager will play a key role implementing best practices in QA and help drive Local Now towards a path of continuous improvement. As the QA Manager, you should love finding bugs, troubleshooting and writing test suites with a commitment to releasing the highest quality products. Partnering with heads of Product, Engineering and Editorial, you will ensure new feature and product releases are flawless and audiences have a great user experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Create test plans, write test cases, perform functional and exploratory testing, effectively communicate status and required remediation.
• Conduct manual testing, and use strong exploratory testing to uncover weaknesses in test approaches.
• Research user stories and business cases, and use that information in testing frameworks and approaches.
• Providing a strong point of view in go/no-go decisions on launching new releases.
• Manage a QA analysts and be responsible for the full team’s testing effort.
• In this position you will coordinate and prioritize resources across projects, establish and enforce quality standards, and report testing status with meaningful metrics.
Education, Experience, Certification Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree; engineering focus is preferred
• 7+ years of QA experience
• 4+ years as Team Lead/QA Manager
• Experience leading automation efforts
• Experience testing web sites, web services, apps, or databases preferred
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Experience with Quality Center, QTP, and Jira preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Familiarity with high-level programming languages such as Java/.NET C#, JavaScript, and SQL
• Hiring, retaining, mentoring and developing talent
• Manage in-house staff and external test vendors
• Planning and execution of complex software testing efforts
• Strong knowledge of QA methodology
• Strong networking, communication, organization and negotiation skills
• Test plan creation and defect triage experience
