Job Description
Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc. is looking for an experienced News Director with a history of success to lead its broadcast and digital news efforts in Tampa, FL, (DMA #11). Tampa is the home of a powerhouse, legacy NBC affiliate, WFLA-TV and a full power MyNet, WTTA-TV as well as one of the highest trafficked sites in Florida WFLA.com. The Nexstar Tampa news operation produces more than 60 hours of local content each week. The emphasis on high quality, relevant local content is producing consistent ratings growth in all news areas and other key dayparts while distinguishing WFLA as the clear-cut leader in serving the local communities of Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota. We will continue the trajectory as we seek the same focus and passion for locally produced content in our next News Director hire.
This is a rare leadership opportunity to join one of the largest owned broadcast and digital companies in the industry and oversee unparalleled broadcast and digital news operations as the next News Director of award winning WFLA, the reigning AP station of the year in Florida. The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record of implementing and executing content acquisition and creation, the experience and ability to build a dynamic team, and the ability to work with the other WFLA Department Leaders to stratagize and successfully collaborate on broadcast, digital and other station projects.
We seek a candidate with previous News Director experience, a minimum of 5 years of news management experience, and demonstrable evidence of associated successes as noted herein.
