Job Description
Ubisoft Entertainment, a global leader in the video games and entertainment software industry, is currently seeking a full-time Manager, Video Services. This person should be highly motivated, extremely well-organized, and have a video and digital production background. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge and experience using Agile project management principles to work in a fast-paced, iterative, environment. Credentialed candidates highly preferred.
The video services team works on all Ubisoft game titles, primarily trailer finishing, creating cut-downs for social media, end-card creation and modification, industry show sizzle videos, event projections, TV spot prepping, and VO recording. The Manager, Video Services will oversee the movement of these video requests, and ensure that they are being done within scope, on time, and on budget.
This is a managing position within the Creative Services department which reports to the Associate Director, Integrated Production. He/she will manage a team of 4-5 contract talent including producer/project managers, video editors & motion graphic artists. He/she will have 2 direct reports: producer & motion graphics artist. It is the manager’s responsibility to hire and book artists depending on workload, as well as manage the budgets associated.
Responsibilities:
Video Services ticketing system and projects
• Active in JIRA ticketing system: ability to manage and update projects, adjust priorities, and remove road blocks by working closely with project manager, Brand team and artists
• Maintain Admin knowledge of JIRA tool such as workflow changes, editing required fields, and writing search queries
• Meet with Brand on regular basis to discuss schedules, build sheets, and workload.
• Help assess if Integrated Producer or outside assistance (vendor) needed on project
• Ability to plan production schedule, create budget, assess scope of video requests and execute videos as needed
• Attend daily scrum with team to assist with roadblocks; attend weekly cross functional meetings to maintain awareness
Media asset management
• Collaborate and communicate with IT department
• Implement asset sharing model and archive with existing DAM
• Help manage disk space on servers
• Maintain folder structure and team asset organization
• Manage inventory for equipment, hardware and software
Team staffing and budget
• Responsible for having adequate staff of freelancers; manage holds & bookings
• Manage budget for team: responsible for bill back with Brand and other departments, timesheet approvals, actualizing budgets with Accounts Payable and management
• Responsible for quarterly reports using data from JIRA and compiling other information from freelancer budget
• Research potential freelance artists, set-up interviews
• Communicate with HR, Corporate Services, and IT as needed
• Assist producers with booking artists and collaborate on billing
Quality control deliverables
• Make sure quality control is up to standards by supervising process
• Maintain awareness and communicate changes to logos, mnemonics, ESRB ratings, and legal lines to team.
Onboarding/Training
• Keep documentation updated on Wiki (Confluence), and other resources used for training
• Supervise training of clients on video services’ protocols and tools (such as JIRA)
• Onboarding Brand and other people working with the team
• Lead the onboarding and training of new artists and interns
• Monthly presentation about team capabilities
Qualifications
• 6 to 9 years video production experience including working in a very high paced environment across multiple teams.
• Background in Project Management and/or Video Production.
• Knowledge and understanding of video formats/codecs, prior experience working with social media deliverables.
• Our ideal candidate has experience working in JIRA, Confluence, Google docs, Microsoft Office.
• BA degree from a 4-year university/professional school preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
• Strong attention to detail and high organizational skills.
• Must be comfortable holding scrums & retrospectives
• Ability to manage feedback from multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• High energy and positive attitude with a desire to be proactive.
• Must be able to work independently and also well with others as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Must have an agile mentality to handle multiple changes in production scope.
• Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
