The StubHub Center is a 125-acre, $150 million development owned by AEG and operated by AEG Facilities, located in Carson, featuring state-of-the art stadiums and facilities for soccer, tennis, track & field, cycling, lacrosse, rugby, volleyball, baseball, softball, basketball and other sports. Designated as an “Official U.S. Olympic Training Site,” The Home Depot Center is the nation’s most complete training facility for Olympic, amateur and professional athletes.
Created around a 27,000-seat soccer stadium, 8,000-seat tennis stadium, 2,000-seat track & field facility and a 2,450-seat indoor Velodrome – the Velo Sports Center – the complex is located on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills. The StubHub Center is home to Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy. In addition, the site is the U.S. Soccer Federation’s (USSF) national team training headquarters and the location of the United States Tennis Association’s (USTA) USA High Performance National Training Center. The development is also designated as an official training site for USA Cycling and USA Track & Field.
Since opening on June 1, 2003, with the inaugural Home Depot Track & Field Invitational, The StubHub Center has hosted some of the finest national and international competitions in the world. In the facility’s first year of operation, it hosted the 2003 MLS All-Star Game, 2003 MLS Cup and the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup championship match. Since then, The StubHub Center has hosted major soccer tournaments and matches, including MLS Cup in 2004, 2008 and 2011; CONCACAF Men’s & Women’s Gold Cup matches; international friendlies and the annual Super Clásico, featuring Los Angeles’ intra-city rivalry, the Los Angeles Galaxy versus Chivas USA. The StubHub Center hosted the LA Women’s Tennis Championships presented by Herbalife, a Premier WTA Tour event, showcasing tennis’ most elite female athletes, from 2004 to 2009. The facility is also home to the nation’s premier indoor velodrome and hosted the 2005 UCI Track Cycling World Championships and the UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships in 2012.
The StubHub Center’s commitment to athletics and training also extends to the surrounding communities. Tennis courts, soccer training fields and a three-mile jogging trail with 12 fitness stations around the perimeter of the development is available to local residents as well as other facilities and amenities. Through foundations established by AEG-operated entities such as the Galaxy, the Los Angeles Kings (NHL) and STAPLES Center, more than $5 million has been pledged to community organizations in the last seven years, including new donations targeting the local Carson community established by The StubHub Center Charitable Foundation.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Receptionist will be responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to front office personnel and providing a excellent customer service to internal & external clients by answering incoming calls, directing callers to appropriate personnel, providing information to callers, scheduling appointments, and maintaining the conference room calendar(s).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Answer questions about the organization; answer inquiries from the public concerning the stadium, upcoming games, tickets, events, and merchandise; providing callers with address, directions, and other information
• Welcome on-site visitors, announcing visitors to appropriate personnel
• Update appointment calendars, coordinating conference calls and meetings
• Receive, sort, and route incoming mail and faxes; Coordinate UPS/Fedex/courier service
• Call & arrange equipment maintenance with appropriate vendor(s); Order, receive, and maintain office supplies for copy room, kitchen area & other public use areas
• Update phone, cell phone and email contact lists
• Assist various departments with mass mailing efforts and other special projects
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
• Performing other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating
• Work with all departments within the organization and assist as available with any special projects.
• Provide backup administrative support as needed
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Must be highly organized, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Exceptional guest and client service capabilities
• Strong customer service background with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment required
• Enterprising and self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work well with different personalities in a fast-paced environment and constant deadlines
• Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information
• Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented
• Exceptional interpersonal and telephone skills, esp. when handling high volume of inbound telephone calls
• Ability to work evenings and weekends and/or holidays & overtime as required
• Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
• Knowledge of receptionist switchboard is a plus
• Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish) is preferred
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education: High school diploma required
Experience: At least 1 year of receptionist/switchboard experience
Licenses or certificates: No licenses required
Grooming: Individual must maintain a neat, well-groomed and professional appearance that conveys professionalism at all times, whether in the office or out of the office, particularly during events.
