Job Description
Support the VP in the development, implementation, and presentation of primary research utilized to leverage vertical, consumer, and cultural insights. The Sr. Director must take primary responsibility for partnering with external research providers to address broad, thought-leadership-focused research objectives in multi-phase, multi-methodological research studies that provide unique insight to advertising partners in support of ad sales efforts. The Sr. Director must be comfortable with ambiguity and big picture/strategic thinking, and be curious and creative in approaches and storytelling around learning.
• Lead the development and execution of highly custom research studies that explore a wide variety of topics, including cultural trends, media consumption, generational insights and consumer behavior
• Partner with others on primary research team to expose them to a variety of research methodologies and help them to gain confidence in these skills. Provide the background understanding of the variety of research methodologies available, as well as the strengths and weaknesses and best use cases for each
• Work with VP and SVP, as well as Ad Sales, to determine potential future topics, research cadence, resource allocation, and maximizing value of research investments
• Stay up-to-date on developing and new research techniques and approaches, to keep department approaches fresh and up-to-date
Qualification Requirements
6-10 Years Primary Research Experience
Primary Research Design—qualitative and quantitative
Quantitative Research Analysis—including questionnaire development and design
Qualitative Research Analysis (focus groups, ethnographic interviews, online qualitative, etc.)
Solid Knowledge of Office/Presentation Software
Experience using creative exercises/approaches/workshops
Trend/cultural insight analysis
Excellent presentation skills, with experience presenting to internal and external partners, including: executives, conferences, agencies, marketers, cross-functional teams
Desired (not essential) Qualifications
Experience in media (TV or digital)
Any media related experience
Graduate research work
Educational Requirements 4+ Years College
Preferred Majors: Sociology, Anthropology, Cognitive Science, Psychology
