Provide creative leadership in the development and selection of compelling photography for Starz originals episodic, behind-the-scenes, PR and marketing imagery. The right candidate will have strong experience in entertainment photography and will leverage that to provide day-to-day creative management for the STARZ photo team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborate with Originals Marketing, PR and Creative Director to ensure all photography meets the high quality creative that supports the goals of the company
• Coach, develop, and help drive creative of all photography for Starz Originals
• Source, schedule, and manage on-set photographers for ongoing productions around the globe. Read scripts and review schedules to assign best coverage dates. Drive creative and technical direction and outline shot lists
• Review and edit all incoming photography. Work with publicity, marketing, and creative teams to source best imagery for their purposes, including photos for press and editorial, digital platforms, and print materials
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of all assets available, and how they can best serve each department
• Work with retouching team to finalize unit treatments and approve all retouching. Liaise with production on final color and VFX
• Brief creative team on all series photography items such as: creative updates, rights and restrictions issues, talent approvals, edit status, upcoming jobs, upcoming photo releases, upcoming retouch needs, production updates, etc
• Collaborate with art directors on photos for unit bibles, press kits, and other creative jobs
• Working with digital assets management team to help them maintain transparency and organization across all projects (including spoilers, exclusives, etc)
• Make and stay within budget, recommendations for in-season series photography
• Work with legal and assets management to maintain knowledge of rights, clearance, and talent approval issues
Required Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Degree in photography, visual arts, digital media or related field preferred
• Minimum eight years Creative or Agency experience
• Successful experience managing / leading a photography editing team
• Strong creative eye for selecting compelling visual assets and editing
• Photography and lighting background with experience editing stills for marketing & publicity use
• Entertainment experience preferred. Familiarity with entertainment production and unit photographers for hire
• Deadline-oriented with strong time management skills
• Understanding of the photography industry including photo production, retouching and digital asset management and workflow
• Strong contacts and photographer roster
• Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions, think strategically, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail
• Experience giving creative and technical direction to photographers and retouchers
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Bridge, Photoshop, and Acrobat
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint/Keynote
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of Capture One or Lightroom a plus
