creating new digital experiences. We are a group of designers, product managers, engineers, strategists,
and researchers dedicated to building innovative, user-centric products.
About Our Design Team
We are team of digital designers with expertise in visual design, interaction design, and design research.
We partner closely with product management and engineering to strategize, design, and launch digital
products. We believe that a well-formed design culture is essential to delivering top-notch work.
Who You Are
As an executive, you own and drive a north star vision for digital product and experience design.
● Clearly articulate a vision for our team to inform the strategic direction of our digital products
● Translate vision into action through exceptional communication and people management skills
● Establish strong partnerships across Technology, Product, Editorial, and Sales/Marketing
● Build relationships with brand Creative Directors and own the intersection of design functions
● Inform and shape overarching business strategy through a deep understanding of our audiences
● Collaborate directly with senior staff across Co/lab
As a team leader, you inspire excellence in craft and are a catalyst for strategic thinking.
● Demonstrated expertise in the fundamentals and methods of digital design and user experience
● Proven ability to bring products to market and improve through both iteration and innovation
● Play a central role in recruiting, mentoring, developing and retaining design talent
● Leverage data and business insights to drive strategic decision-making and inform team priorities
● Oversee design team of 20+ team members; manage 2-3 director-level reports
As an advocate for our team, you ensure that the value and function of user-centered design is
appreciated and embraced throughout the organization.
● Build influence and respect as the face of digital design within the organization
● Pursue a collaborative approach to problem-solving and organizational alignment
● Fluency in using design principles to drive decision making and cohesive user experiences
● Collaborate with stakeholders from across the organization to align vision with org strategy
● Evangelize our team’s impact within the design and technology community at large
Other qualifications:
● 15+ years overall experience in digital design; at least 5 years of experience managing teams
● Experience leading teams within a rapidly changing industry and business landscape
● Desire to contribute to the future of journalism
