Director, Global Networking & Telecom is responsible to lead all aspects of an organization's global corporate network and telecommunication systems, architectures, and respective provider services. Responsible for mentoring and managing networking & telecommunications personnel and related administrative activities. Work with IT Management to assess the organization's current and future network infrastructure needs. Performs network monitoring, resolves incidents and changes. Relies on extensive experience working in global organizations. Exercises sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Essential Job Functions:
• Ability to create detailed technical diagrams, and associated technical documents
• Ability to manage completed projects, employing industry standard methodologies and techniques
• Experience with Cisco and Force10 Networking equipment in an enterprise environment.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP Protocol Stack
• Deep understanding of QoS Design and Implementation
• Deep understanding of Network Monitoring Platform Management and Configuration (Solarwinds)
• Deep understanding of Cisco Wireless Network Platforms
• Deep understanding of Remote Network Access Technologies (Cisco ASA, Juniper)
• Deep understanding and past or present experience configuring and troubleshooting with OSPF, EIGRP & BGP Routing Protocols
• Network Security Devices (Cisco ASA & PIX, Juniper, Checkpoint)
• Deep understanding of L3 MPLS VPN Tunnels and IPSec based VPN Technologies
• Deep understanding of Layer 2 Switching Products / Technology
• Good understanding Nexus Product Line – Fabric Extenders (NX 2XXX), Nexus 5XXX, 7XXX series switches / Technology
• Deep understanding of audio and video technologies and protocols - H.323 / SIP
• High level understanding of Video Conferencing Architectures and Codec’s
• Understanding / experience with hybrid VC systems from major vendors – Cisco, Polycom
• Understanding of TDM and IP Trunk side phone system technologies – PRI’s, SIP Trunks, etc.
• Deep understanding of IP Telephony Systems / Technology and integration with networks
• Familiarity with IP Phone system from some of major vendors – Cisco, Avaya, ShoreTel, Mitel
Position Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, or equivalent experience. Related Cisco Certifications Required.
Required Experience:
• 10+ years’ experience with back-end network & telecommunications infrastructure technologies in both a design/engineering and operational capacities.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Deep understanding of IT systems, architectures, and related nomenclature
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong business acumen, action oriented and results driven
• Mentors and develops network & telecommunications professionals at all levels.
• Data Center operations experience – build/maintain rack, cable, power, High Availability options, capacity planning and forecasting, disaster recovery/business continuity and architectures
• Technical vision, adhering to maintenance and performance standards of data, voice or video network hardware and systems. Solicits and builds consensus among network team to clarify that vision.
• High degree of experience with engineering and implementing complex LAN/WAN/Internet and cloud network environments with an emphasis on datacenter management.
• Troubleshoots highly complex data, voice or video network and hardware problems; researches and analyzes significant, complex network problems that require evaluation of intangibles, such as downstream effects on client satisfaction; assesses and evaluates current and future systems.
• Provides expert technical support and guidance on highly complex design issues.
• Researches and analyzes data or voice networking technologies to remain current in the industry. Provides direction and strategy for future direction. Key partner for product development, game programming, operations and ops support, security and risk team, procurement and facilities to ensure codependences are properly managed.
• Consults, support and guides supported organizations as well as providing leadership across the various IT teams.
• Creates and maintains data, voice or video network documentation and communicates to senior management regarding the current operational status of networks.
• Performs cost analyses and vendor comparisons for large scale projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient design, and evaluates feasibility of various approaches. Ensures adherence to model created and overall budgetary guidelines.
