Job Description
Accounting leadership opportunity for a dynamic digital marketing agency. The Director, Accounting role oversees the Accounting function for the Performics US business and will interact with other agency teams. The Director will have full responsibility and accountability for the areas outlined below and will report to the VP of Finance of Performics US.
Role Objectives:
• Month End Close
◦ Manage close schedule and team to assure adherence to Groupe deadlines
◦ Review and approval of journal entries
◦ Ensure Intercompany items are reconciled and resolve any mismatches
◦ Monthly and Quarterly Reporting Packages to parent company
• Oversee Accounts Payable function
◦ Oversee A/P for agency expenses and T&E
◦ Media bill/pay process
◦ Build and maintain good working relationships with vendors and central Treasury team
• Oversee Client Billing & Accounts Receivable function
◦ Oversee monthly client invoicing process and custom built invoicing tool
◦ Conduit between client teams, finance and centralized billing team to ensure smooth processes and accurate transactions
◦ Oversee Accounts Receivable collections process
◦ Monthly A/R Healthcheck reporting and Bad Debt evaluation
◦ TWC forecasting and management
• Ensure compliance with Publicis Groupe internal control requirements
◦ Manage preparation and comprehensive review of monthly reporting files in accordance with Groupe policies
◦ Ensure balance sheet and P&L accounts are properly reconciled monthly, including reconciling all sub-ledgers to general ledger
◦ Sign off of monthly internal controls checklist
◦ Ensure all reconciling items and potential issues are addressed timely and escalated as required
◦ Segregation of duties reporting and maintenance
• Audit
◦ Lead external and internal audit review processes, including coordination of information from multiple teams
◦ Ensure all information is provided accurately and timely
◦ Ensure monthly internal controls pack is fully completed and signed off in preparation for internal audit visits
• Financial Systems
◦ Maintenance of all internal financial systems – ensure all systems tie out for actuals
• Tax packs and compliance
◦ Work with centralized tax department to address all corporate and sales tax issues and ensure compliance
• Responsible for T&E policy compliance
• Accounting Processes & Policies
• Update and redistribute as needed
• Team structure
◦ Hire, develop, train and appraise accounting staff.
◦ Ensure staff opportunities for professional development and career growth
◦ Review structure of team to ensure we operate effectively
◦ Work with accounting teams of other agencies to share best practices
• Improve efficiencies
◦ Evaluate and seek improvements in internal processes and policies to allow team to better meet its reporting requirements (eg effective use of Purchase Order system)
◦ Work with internal IT development team to improve use of systems as required
◦ Work with central team on SAP implementation project
• Manage relationship with centralized teams
◦ Ensure agency and centralized teams work collaboratively and effectively to meet business objectives
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• 8+ years accounting experience
• 2+ years of Big Four Accounting experience strongly preferred
• Bachelor's Degree; CPA preferred
• Prior people management experience
• Demonstrated experience working within a service-related company. Advertising industry / media experience is preferred.
• Proven ability to thrive in fast paced environment
• Attention to detail essential
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent accounting and analytical skills.
• Ability to multi task and prioritize
• Desire to mentor and develop your staff and to build solid working relationships with vendors
• Strong excel and systems skills essential
• Experience with and affinity for process development, improvement and implementation
• SAP experience preferred
