Associate, WHY
Job Description:
Horizon Media's WHY team is looking to hire an Associate Strategist! He/She will support a range of WHY Group research approaches and reporting, including Distillery social media conversation monitoring, Finger on the Pulse primary research, and syndicated research and data runs, on behalf of Horizon and its clients. To do this, he/she will have at his/her disposal access to multiple research tools and team members. He/she will work closely with members of the Distillery social listening team, WHY Group research managers, insight strategists, and VP of Consumer Insights.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• 75% - Under the guidance of senior Distillery members, support social listening monitoring across a portfolio of client engagements
◦ Use web-based social listening tools (e.g., Netbase, SocialGuide) to conduct social listening analysis as outlined within clients’ scope of work
◦ Assist in setting up data and tools to be showcased as part of client and prospect tours
◦ Assist in the development of client reports to be delivered on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc basis
◦ Ensure timeliness of work to meet internal and external client deadlines
◦ Stay up-to-date on social listening and analytic technologies and trends as part of evolution of Distillery offerings and reports
• 15% - Support strategists and research managers in execution of primary research projects:
◦ Program and launch surveys in Horizon’s proprietary research panels (e.g. Finger on the Pulse)
◦ Export and format quantitative results (e.g. data table creation and manipulation)
◦ Analyze qualitative responses (e.g. coding of open end responses)
◦ Create reports (e.g. writing drafts, image sourcing, design and formatting, etc.)
◦ Support in running focus groups (recruiting, taking notes, etc.)
• 10% - Support VP, Consumer Insights in developing targeting profiles and activation briefs
◦ Perform data runs in Horizon’s syndicated tools and resources (e.g. Simmons, MRI, Statista, WARC)
◦ Support VP in identifying and developing target profiles as the basis of Horizon’s planning efforts
◦ Other desk research on topics of interest (e.g. search publicly-available reports and data)

Knowledge and Skills Required
Knowledge:
• 1-3 years of experience in social listening, digital/social media, or qualitative research
• Proven ability to collaborate with others and work in teams required
• Strong analytical, writing, critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
• Previous experience with social listening tools preferred – Netbase, Crimson Hexagon, Radian6, Brandwatch, Sprinklr, SocialGuide, etc.
• Previous experience with syndicated research studies and tools preferred – Nielson, MRI, Simmons, Scarborough, etc.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
