ABOUT LAPLACA COHEN
For 20 years, LaPlaca Cohen has helped many of the world's leading cultural and creative organizations build powerful connections and achieve greater impact through strategy, branding, design, advertising, and media solutions. We have been privileged to work with an unrivalled roster of leading museums, performing arts organizations, architecture firms, universities, orchestras, dance companies, botanical gardens, and foundations.
OVERVIEW
We are looking for a Media Planner to be an integral member of a growing media team and an innovative and strategic thinker who takes fresh approaches to media planning and buying in order to maximize impact and help our clients achieve their ambitions.
Candidates should bring the following skills and experiences to the table: a strong media strategy, research, and planning background as well as experience interacting and communicating with clients. Big picture thinking —such as understanding the client’s goals, metrics, audiences, and future opportunities—combined with a meticulous attention to detail—such as managing budgets and deadlines—is critical.
We love what we do and thrive on the opportunities to work with our clients. We are looking for someone who will share and further fuel this enthusiasm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Facilitate both the planning and buying of holistic media plans—including digital (display, programmatic, social, streaming/podcast), print, out of home and broadcast, as well as non-traditional media ideas (e.g. partnerships, promotions)—for New York City, regional, and national markets as required.
• Collaborate with both the Account team as well as the Creative Department to consider client objectives, target audience and budget, as well as media implications on creative content and placement.
• Create and facilitate media presentations both internally as well as client-facing.
• Collaborate with internal teams to adhere to a marketing strategy, which allows creative solutions that leverage media in dynamic, effective ways.
• Develop consumer profiles and strengthen the client / agency understanding of our audiences and how to best connect with them.
• Conduct ongoing relationships with media sales reps and serve as a powerful advocate for the clients in negotiations.
• Lead research on latest media trends, keeping company and clients abreast of innovative advertising and media opportunities.
• Maintain and track client media budgets, as well as issue and update insertion orders.
• Analyze data and provide reporting as well as ideas for ongoing optimization.
• Participate in new business pitches when required, and lead the external presentation of media capabilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
• B.A. required.
• 2-5 years of full-time media planning and buying experience.
• A demonstrated passion for the arts (experience working in the cultural sector is a major plus).
• Exceptional communication, problem-solving, presentation, research and writing skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to manage simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced environment, working both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong computer skills, with Excel proficiency. Knowledge of Advantage and Keynote is a plus.
• This position may be called upon for client management activity, so strong interpersonal skills are a must.
